Ordered DT-990 at $299.99 USD. What I received are the DT-990 Pro though which the site I ordered from says are out of stock and lists at only $189.99.

Electronica Direct - Beyerdynamic

Headphones

The other thing is that if you click on the DT-990 and DT 990 Pro at electronicadirect it lists the model number and UPC code.

DT-990
model # 481807 UPC code 411378035493

DT-990 Pro
model # 459038 UPC Code 4010118406577

The DT-990 Pro I recieved
model # 459038 UPC code 41137803549

definitely call them. the pro version, although very similar, costs a lot less than the non-pro 2005 version. you paid the price of a DT990 and got a pro. get elec direct to replace them.

I'm in Canada and that is a major hassle. I read they use the same drivers anyway but different materials so may keep them but want the price reduced. I searched the 990 Pro price and the going price is $259.99 so not much different. Their $189.99 price must be either really old or they pulled it out of their arse.

Just looked at the specs of both models and they are exactly the same.

Good luck - you'll need it. First of all - you failed to do your homework and check out the vendor. I just did, since I've never heard of them before. Take a look at ElectronicaDirect - electronicadirect.com - Reviews, Ratings and Prices at ResellerRatings dismal performance according to previous buyers. Furthermore, prices posted on the site at time of purchase ARE their current selling prices........that is a customers only guide when intending a purchase. They cannot legitimately come back and tell you they were selling them for more.
They owe you the $110.USD difference - will you get it? There are no mistakes here - you're being scammed (despite the fact both really are the same). As I said....good luck.

Isnt the main difference between old DT990 and DT990 Pro (other than coiled cable) different clamping force? DT990 Pro had tighter clamp force resulting in different sound. Perhaps, if all else fails that is, you could just stretch the headband looser so you could get a sound very close to original one?

i would either get it replaced for the new version or just get the difference back in monetary value. there is very little difference between the sound of the two versions, so either one is ok.

The reason I ordered from them is because I was using amazon.com to find a seller that would ship Beyerdynamic to Canada and they are who came up. Instead of going thorugh amazon.com I went straight to electronicadirect.com. I don't think they are trying to scam me because if you look at their web page you will see they have the UPC codes mixed up for DT990 and DT990pro. Are you suggesting they did that deliberately? I don't think so but if they did then they won't get away with it because I will simply do a charge back on my Visa account. At least they were good enough to declare the value on the headphones as only $25.00 so I would only have to pay $3.09 CAD in taxes.

I don't find them too tight, they are a bit tighter than my HD595 but not much. It's the 990pro I really wanted anyway but the site showed them out of stock so went and paid extra for the DT990 (2005). I want to keep the DT990pro but want the price reduced to the correct Pro price is all.

You should definitely contact them, letting them know that you received the wrong item. Since you want to keep the Pro they should refund the price difference.

Keep the Pro's and claim the difference in pricing to be returned to you. The non-Pro 2005 model provides U-shaped equalization which makes my ears hurt, at least it did on two different SS amps. The DT990 Pro's sound more even and I can enjoy them from any decent amp.

I've sent them 2 emails pointing out their error since Thursday but no reply yet. Their 800 number does not work from my location either. I'll give them a chance to correct the error before I go into ballistic mode.

They may be closed until Monday, because of the holiday, btw.

Yea, I expect so. One thing that concerns me is that if I had to do a charge back through Visa will Visa allow it considering I bought the headphones outside of Canada? Well, if that didn't work then I guess there is always the computer fraud laws to explore.
