OPPO To Reveal PM-3 Planar Magnetic Headphones and HA-2 Portable Headphone Amplifier at RMAF

I happy to announce that the tentative pricing for the HA-2 portable headphone amplifier and DAC will be $299.00 and the PM-3 portable planar magnetic headphones will be $399.00. I say "tentative" since the pricing is always subject to final production cost analysis, but I strongly suspect these will be the final MSRPs.

No discrete release dates yet, but the PM-3 should be released in January.

whoa!
holy moly that's some good pricing- especially on the HA-2 IMHO.

PM-3 also on my wish-list now as well, pending the final sonic tuning.

bravo!

At $399 are we looking at a competition killer? Are we looking at the first truly portable yet reference class sounding planar magnetic here (I don't really count the Mad Dog Pro to be portable)?

It's too much to hope they'd be competing against the Alpha Dog… maybe competition for the HE-400i?

You're not kidding, are you? I didn't plan to buy any of these but now... it seems I will get both!

I'm pretty happy with that HA-2 price. Falls in line with the Leckerton UHA-6S Mk.II. It remains to be seen how the final units will sound, but I imagine they'll be pretty competitive.

Very, very curious to hear the PM-3, and that price looks great on paper. *fingers crossed*

If the HA-2 will natively work with Android phones (Galaxy S/Galaxy Note specifically) then I think I'll be wanting both of these instead of a new DAP/IEM set up.

Will the PM-3 use a 3.5mm stereo plug at the cup?

It can't - the PM-3 has a three-conductor jack on one side, where the PM-1/PM-2 has two-conductor jacks on both sides.

Yeap, I realized that after I posted and then went back to change my question. I am assuming it will be a 3.5mm stereo plug.

Okay.  That is the aggressive pricing that I expected from Oppo.

The build quality to date (first round beta unit) points to a level of fit and finish I don't recall seeing at this price and functionality level. I will withhold sound comments during beta testing, but I will note that I am optimistic regarding a very high level of sound quality.
