Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

Dude, your issue is the fact that you are using a balanced trrs cable with a phone or computer "out" that supports a mic.. The left channel ground on your headphone is going to the mic out on your phone.. This is causing your left Chanel not to work..

Hmm, I'm currently using the stock 3m PM-3 cable. Is it already a balanced trrs cable?

If you are using the short cable that came with the PM-3 you have to be careful to insert the correct end in the PM-3.  Both ends are not the same.  Try reversing it because of the switch in the line.

I discovered this myself last night. Can't remember which way was right/wrong, but I want to say if you end up with the microphone/controls on the source end rather than the headphone end it doesn't work. (which makes sense, but still easy to forget when you're hastily plugging in)

Wholeheartedly disagree with that statement

Just ordered a blue pair of these, can't wait to compare them to my HE-400i. Didn't purchase them to replace the 400i,  just wanted a closed back, portable pair of planars for travel and walking to work. Who knows though, they could become my go-to. That'd be kind of nice actually.

From the reviews I read the sound signatures sound somewhat similar to my impressions of the 400i.
