Does anyone here have any experience/opinion on this attenuator, or any other cheap, er, I mean, low-cost attenuator?

DACT Type 23 Stepped Attenuator Potentiometer 50K 2a3 - eBay (item 290270528164 end time Nov-25-08 07:43:41 PST)

I'd like to try the 'stepper' waters before I plunk down major green for a Goldpoint.

I got one of these, to use in my almost-complete SOHA:

SMT Resistor Step Attenuator 50K Volume Control - eBay (item 360097348779 end time Nov-11-08 11:24:00 PST)

As far as I can tell, it's the same basic thing, just made on a smaller switch body. I *think* it's a "ladder" attenuator, but can't really tell for sure. If it is (how do I tell?) then it's about half the price of the one you're looking at.

Either way, it's a mighty nice attenuator, and fits in the cramped space available for it, so I'm happy.
