Yeah, but it isn't something that the amerian people just glance over. A large part of it was just bad info...and it wasn't knowingly planned for 8 years before it happened....

In fact, it is used as an insult against others.

That comparison is very much and apples to oranges one as well...

With regards to the american indians. Yes, it was horrible. However, it was due to the government not recognizing them as citizens. There is no equal compensation. Allowing profitable casinos on their land is the least that could be done.

It is still something that many people feel bad about, not ignored.

Getting back on topic I don't think the one girl below looks ugly. I think they are both good looking. I laughed when I read that China used one girl to sing and the other to lips sync on stage "for the best interest of their country".

All in all...who really cares? It affects nobody, impacted nothing, especially the olympics....it's fricken fireworks and lip-syncing...

Now, I can see if you paid for a seat there, and go a huge display on TV, not actual fireworks...but heck, people pay for concert tickets, and get lipsyncing....it's nothing new.

People can really complain about everything. All the newspaper articles clearly say that it would have been impossible to follow the real footprints via helicopter, but that the footprints really did take place. Would you have preferred that they not show the footsteps on TV at all?

So many sour people, unbelievable. Cheer up. Yes, there's a lot wrong with the Olympics but following Western media, it feels like there's hasn't been a bigger human atrocity committed in the last few months. Especially German media: the commentator even made a cynical joke urging the viewers to also stand up during the Chinese national anthem. Some people really need to grow up.

And before there's more of all that armchair pundit crap, ask what the athletes think about the Olympics.

I know why there are many chinese people in America and other western counties...even many other asian countries as well.....

My great grandparents moved to a third-world country to get away from China.

Asian people tend to have very strict view of what beauty is. "Strict" as in ""**** up".

I know that the athletes are enjoying the olympics...but what about those athletes who were denied entry to the country? I know that USA had a few not be allowed into the country.

It just seems wrong to me and I wonder how many other athletes had the same thing happen?

I am astonished at how far china has come, but I believe that the country has a long way to go.

It is just certain practices that erk me, even within my own government.

I have no problem with some faked shots of the footsteps across the city.. way too difficult / dangerous to actually film the real thing, which DID happen. Lighten up people.. and please leave the politics at home.

Minor point: The word is "the", not "teh", makes a whole post look just plain silly when you use that.

Well, as others have said, it was stated during the broadcast the the footsteps weren't real and to me, they didn't look real. As for the little girl singing, again, it was obvious to me she was lipsyncing. I suspected though that it was actually someone much older singing.

The Bird's Nest is just stunning! Watched a show on Discovery the other day on how it was built. Amazing.

Yeah, but he isn't competing. But anyways, the whole visa denial thing is definitely one of those less pretty and totally unnecessary things about the Olympics. A Canadian friend of mine who studies at Beijing University, along with countless other foreigners living in Beijing, was even told to leave the city during the Olympics (visa extension denial). I'm glad I had a one year visa that couldn't be denied. But at least other countries are reciprocating by denying visas to Chinese for the time being as well.

What if you made love a woman, only to find out afterwards she was post-op?
