Very good deal indeed.
Are you going to buy it?

Yes! I can confirm that I "have bass now". I thought I don't hear much bass because I'm using a tube amp but now i'm actually hearing bass. Not using PC for music listening anymore. Very happy with this device!

Great!
Don't forget to post your impressions.

PS When you finish playing, send it over to me so I can play too!

The Russ Andrews Power supply is just a 'toss' rebranded one, get it from Maplins for less, like £90 less.

Don't worry I will post plenty of impressions.

I haven't listened to PC music since I got the dock, only when I was playing games music ran in the background. As I said before now i actually have bass. With the EMU0404 the bass was muddy, it got better with the DacMagic but with the dock its punchy and alive.

So the RA psu isn't worth it?

That sounds very interesting.
Could you please post a link to the Maplins PSU

i have tried to source a psu in the UK based upon Vinnie's recommendation but with no success, i have emailed

maplin
rs components
rapid online
powerpax
farnell

none of whom have a suitable reulated linear supply and the switched ones are mainly similar to the stock psu supplied with the unit.

I have ordered a russ andrews unit as there seems no alternative, at least they give 60 days to try it out against the stock unit to determine if there is a worthwhile improvement.

I am also very interested in this, please let us know your impressions.

Hey people, quick question. Did you try to power the device using USB (not from the PC) using the 5V DC adapter (Such as iPod/iPhone)? If it works then we don't have to go through this hassle.

The USB input cannot charge the iPod.

That's not my question. If it works alone with a USB input then I wouldn't bother about a PSU or charging my iPod using that. I am just talking about powering the device through USB with a DC adapter.
