After doing some research, feedbacks from this thread and listening to the DP-X1, I have bought it finally.
Any tips / recommendations what should I do first upon powering on the player. I only plan to install and use spotify. No plan to play games / fb / youtube etc on the DAP.
Do I need to empty the battery before charging or what is the recommended percentage before I charge the DAP. Thank you

One of the first things I'd recommend is to uninstall any unwanted apps under the directory "Apps". They're just bloatware and they impact battery life in the worst way. I'd also turn off Wi-Fi when not in use. It's an awesome device IMO...welcome to the club. Enjoy!

Thank you. I am currently updating the firmware as it is the first one to show when doing the initial setup upon connection to the wifi.

Hi Smile, I had the same issue. I'm not sure Android Transfer can read two SD's. However, I found that 'Commander One' —http://mac.eltima.com/file-manager.html — but upgraded to the pro version which mounts Android, works extremely well. The basic version is free and you can trial the pro version and pay $29.95 (£24.50) for a registered version. It's been well worth the cost for me!

Still have a major problem with the DP-X1 though.

I had wanted to use it in my car with a Pioneer SatNav/Audio with a functionality similar to iPod ie see and control the Onkyo music contents on the car unit screen.I have spoken to Pioneer/Onkyo on three occasions regarding this and on each occasion I had different advice.

The first was to upgrade my existing unit (Avic F920BT) to an Avic 980BT (Android Compatible). This was advice from Onkyo/Pioneer Tech Support.
I then checked the Pioneer website to see whether spending a few more bucks on the DAB version would be  a good option. So I used the Pioneer site comparison tool for 3 models. And guess what? The specs listed were/are not as mentioned to me by the 'expert'.

So i called again the next day and spoke to another 'tech specialist' who told me i would need an Avic F80DAB, considerably more expensive, but has Android Auto! That will work. Seem to be getting somewhere, so I downloaded the pdf manual for the F80DAB. It mentioned having to get a special cable (CD MU200 NOT an OTG) in order for the Onkyo to connect correctly.
So, yet another call to ONKYO to clarify this as it would be a further £15.00 on top of the £50.00 for a DAB aerial.
"NO, THERE'S NO WAY THE ONKYO CAN DO WHAT I WANT" was this reply!!!!!!!!!

So, I have an ageing 240GB iPod that works, a Lotoo 5000 that works BUT the ONKYO will not function with a PIONEER (the same company!).
I naively assumed that the Onkyo was a truly portable device. Apparently not.
All I want to do is listen to my music library in the car (not with Bluetooth) through the in car stereo. Is that so difficult?
It would seem so.

If anyone has a solution to this, please advise me. I'd be so, so grateful.

People really need to stop blaming the wrong person. THIS IS NOT AN ONKYO issue. It is an issue EVERY android based player has. I have a 2014 mustang with their nav system, guess what, not a single android device is recognized by the USB port but every IOS device is. It is a google/android/car manufacturer issue. The ONLY way onkyo could offer a solution to this is if they enabled android auto and you bought an android auto stereo

^ Blame Android for removing USB MSC protocol, since 4.x.
There are workarounds in order to bring MSC back, but it requires having root access.
Like using the universal MSC enabler app (available on XDA forums)

Then the car system has to support exFAT, if the microSD wasn't formatted into FAT32 prior usage, and most car systems only support FAT32 filesystems...

Hey man isn't cumbersome to use player in the car? What I do is chuck a USB stick in my JVC and I get all info on it's display and need to operate only car stereo, plus no cables, no mess.

Oh my God, all these Google Apps bloating this device. Why did Onkyo include them? Do they really need the certification or something from Google to distribute the ROM?

I'm disabling them one by one right now. Not to mention this thing is so damn hot. My OnePlus One uses the same CPU but it's not this hot lol.

Still, I finally found something that drives my SE846 at its best form. I'm really digging this sound.

It's a built in feature since KK if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, just hold the icon of the apps and drag them to "App Info". Then tap Disable. Just say "yes" if it asks you to downgrade the app. You don't want it anyway.

Just disable everything of Google's, except Play Store and Google Play Services. Google Apps is known to be battery and resource hog. Right after disabled them, my DP-X1 was able to last for an hour or more from 4% to 1%, compared to 15% to 4% in just a few minutes.

It also stopped getting hot too.

So it is disable because uninstall is not showing when viewing apps thru the system settings, but uninstall shows when you show the app via google play store

Hi guys, I'd like to ask you a few questions. I'm willing to buy a new dap to pair with my stagediver SD2 IEMs. I currently use a Fiio X5II that sounds pretty good but somehow a bit muffled and close. The only problem I have with the SD2 is some little spike in high frequencies, particularly with some song, and I have to use comply foam tips to curb the problem, but they are very expensive and short lasting. I wonder if a new dap could help improve the sound quality and reduce this little issue. Maybe could be the cable or the output impedance to create or boost those spikes?! Do you think an Onkyo X1 could be a good step forward in terms of sound quality, apart from the high frequencies problem? Thanks!

You can only disable system apps and you can only uninstall apps that you installed yourself.

In the system's settings, you can uninstall your apps and disable system apps. Meanwhile, inside Google Play, you can only uninstall your apps.
