I know that I read you are to use ACG in Balanced mode, I have always used the ACG in SE and yesterday I switched it off and maybe is me but the backround seems more black when its turned on. As long as it does not harm the player I will leave it on.

I see, I'll have a play with that sometime. I've always left the balanced output on when listening SE. I imagine the only possible benefit of turning it off would be slightly better battery life.

Can you pls tell me what brand and model and capacity micro SD card you are using?

It's a 200GB Sandisk.

For my Angie, I think the overall size of soundstage is improved moderately but separation of instruments is  drastic

It is a fact when the balanced output is correctly configured. DP-X1 has dual chip set for each channel, why so surprised ?

I am not very experienced and I did not think there was much difference in a balanced audio quality

If you buy them from moon audio , they can custom wire them balanced with the 2.5 trrs connector for you
But that is extra charge of course

i'm thinking to sell my calyx m and go straight to onkyo..
 
I've enjoyed calyx m sound very much, warm and very good separation..

How would you guys say the headphone out sound quality is compared to a conventional totl smartphone? Slight, moderate, or drastic? I'll be using iems primarily.
