Has anybody else had a bad experience with Moon Audio or is it jut a one off instance?  Not trying to stir up problems just curious if I should give them another chance in the future.  Did I just catch Drew on a bad day?

wow thanks for the advice. wanted to get a cable from them but guess i'll have to find another shop

I have purchased cables and equipment from Moon Audio and they are good people to deal with. The warranty service policy described in the post that you quoted is Onkyo's policy, not Moon Audio's choice. I bought a Chord Mojo from them that had a problem. I talked to Moon Audio about it and they told me to return it to them. The day after they received my unit a replacement was on its way to me. Great service, but unfortunately the post office lost the package. I notified Moon Audio that the replacement unit did not get delivered and they contacted the post office and within a few days they sent me another replacement.

Sounds like all they did was to let a potential customer know the truth about how warranty issues would have to handled. As for rude and bad attitude, that is subjective at best.

I would recommend them based on actually having purchased from them over the past year.

Okay.  I will hold no grudges then.  Thanks!  I will keep them in mind for future needs.

I do not have a DPX1 yet, but plan on getting one when I have more cash next year.  Even a DPX1A would be okay for me.  Not going to say which one is better or problem free or such.  Just whichever one I can get from an authorized dealer when I am ready to buy at a decent price.  Either one.  I don't know a much about it, but they both seem pretty good for my uses I am would assume.

DP-X1 and DP-X1A is the best DAP I have so far. It's like a combination of the best features of other DAPs I have will none or minimal hiccup.

Great to know.  Thanks headwhacker you are always so helpful and nice.  I greatly appreciate it.  I plan on having a small collection of daps one at a time when I get the cash.  The DPX1 or DPX1A, DX80 and Opus 1 are my 3 desired daps currently.

Anyone know where I can get a short (< 6 inch) inexpensive micro to micro bi-directional USB OTG cable?

Hey, there. Looking around, I'm not sure that's actually a thing. My understanding is that the OTG cable has to have two different connectors, one on each end, and the difference in one establishes the "direction." Here's something that explains it better than I can:

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3191048/usb-otg-cable-directional.html

Even if I'm wrong, I don't know how you'd switch the devices between host/slave without some physical mechanism.

Well, there is this method:  http://felixjsc.com/bi-directional-communication-between-android-and-arduino-in-usb-host-mode-example-2.html

But, I don't know if that kind of thing would carry over to the DP-X1. Perhaps, if rooted.

After updating to firmware version 1.37 I lost root. After much searching I eventually gave Kingoroot a go and after several attempts it worked. Until I rebooted. Now I have a unit that stays at the Android logo and will not proceed any further. I am unable to enter fastboot and adb will not work.
My pc recognises it is being plugged in/out as I get the usb notification sounds but it is not recognised in device manager .
Any suggestions please?
Thanks
Chris

Yes, its actually a thing. :)

My oppo HA2 came with a bi directional otg cable. This allows either end to be host or client and also prevents the AMP from draining the DAP battery. The oppo provided otg cable works but its a bit stiff and i don't want to put a strain on my micro usb ports.

If i use a one way otg cable the Oppo starts charging from my DPX1A.

Sell those other daps and stick with the DPX1A

I don't Have those daps yet.  They are just on my short list that I would like to have  I would like to eventually have a small collection.  Who knows maybe I will just stat with DPX1A and if I love it enough buy a back up in case the first one were too need to be sent in for warranty I would still have one use.  I only have a lonely Fiio X5 now and I find it is really slow and hard to navigate even after tagging properly  Mostly it is the UI I believe that is slow.  It is an old dap and it has served me well.  I never had to send it in for warranty or to where I bought it.  Pretty reliable for me in general.  Just need newer and better UI
