That's fine, what I'm getting at is they should offer all the fixes while maintaining the same price. They would still make a fortune and there would be plenty happy customers. The DX200 is coming soon and I'm sure will be way under 1000. I'm not a fan of all these 1000 to 4000 dollar MP3 players, it's absolutely ridiculous to pay that amount.
Also, I'm happy to say I've had none of the aforementioned issues you describe and I have had mine for 5 months already. I'm not dissing this in anyway, I just hate seeing these prices skyrocketing for minor changes!

Agreed, or just drop the old model if there are known issues. Who wants to buy the one for less if it has known problems. Or at least keep the cost increase reasonable for what is being fixed. $100? Sure. $400? To fix issues with the original? Hell no.

Imagine if Samsung tried to sell the fixed Note 7 for more money?!? Well at least this one won't explode on you!

i am currently pairing my Onkyo DP-X1 with the Woo Audio WA8. Using the stock music app, I am able to hear my music through the WA8 as per normal. However when I am streaming or listening to the music downloaded from the Spotify app, I can't hear a thing. is there some kind of setting that I should enable on the Onkyo?

There shouldn't be, I have Tidal HIFI on mine and its all downloaded on Slot 1, which I think is the only slot you can use. Can you see the music when you open the app?

If you bought one now from the USA, one would have to assume you would get the latest revision, so the odds should be in your favor.

Not necessarily. I bought from Amazon (US) from an authorized us dealer just two weeks ago. I got an European version (had volume limiter and said on box Europe) with both jacks VERY wobbly. I even contacted seller before ordering asking if it was a new batch/version. They said they just got them at the end of August so it should be. Needless to say I returned it for a full refund and ended up getting the AR-M20.

That is really alarming.  Would I have better luck getting a U.S.  model from an authorized dealer that is not on Amazon or fleebay?  I don't have any experience buying on Amazon.  I know with a lot of companies Amazon is considered a 3rd party reseller and a grey market.  I like Amazon's return policy, but I don't trust their products personally.  Would I get a U.S. version if I bought directly from Best Buy or a similar retailer?

I went with Amazon, and made sure it was an authorized US seller, with Amazon Prime, so I could be sure it wasn't grey market or any issues.  Amazon is great in that it is easy to return and get a full refund.  Onkyo sells directly on Amazon too.  The only reason I didn't go through them was they didn't offer Prime shipping.  I should have bought from Onkyo.  Authorized US dealer doesn't mean you get what you expect/hope.

I think: restart, then press Cancel when a pop up appear while connect.

When the USB prompt thing pops up, cancel it and your other apps will output to your WA8 DAC.

With your headphones the Balanced won't make much of a difference. If you had some harder to drive phones like Audeze's or Hifimans it would be recommended.

I don't believe in balanced providing better sound quality. It's all about the implementation.

The problem with the Onkyo, however, is that single ended output is just so bad. I don't know if it's the way the DAC is implemented on single ended (some say only a single dac is engaged which doesn't make sense to me because it's really just more work for Onkyo), the sound is deliberately crippled single ended with some software design, or the single ended amp section just sucks period. The difference is stunningly big.

I personally found the active ground control mode to be better than the balanced mode too.

With most other daps, I found the single ended and balanced outputs to be pretty similar, balanced edges out a tad at most, but with the Onkyo it's a totally different story.
