ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |

So I'm messing around with the DP-X1 with my iFi micro iDSD and was pleasantly surprised how flawless it hooked up. Last Android device I tried connecting with the iDSD was my old HTC One M8 and that was disastrous. Anyway here are some screenshots.

When I hooked up the iDSD to the DP-X1 (make sure "USB Host Audio Driver is valid" is checked)

Messing around with high precision DSD.

Listening to some Suara in real DSD not DoP.

Just for kicks, listening to Hiroyuki Sawano upsampled to DSD 5.6 MHz.

The iDSD is a really good match with the DP-X1. Upsampling from 44.1 kHz to DSD is unnecessary but it's fun to know that it works and there was no slowdown or stuttering. That being said it is murder on the batteries. In only 10 minutes, my DP-X1's battery dropped from 50% to 40% when connected to the iDSD at 5.6 MHz. lol

/edited for spelling.

Local audiophile store happens to be carrying official Fitear balance cable so picked it up yesterday, spend yesterday and today listening using balance only.
The MH335DW driven in normal balance mode is almost too overwhelming with the low end, much better control in ACG mode and low gain setting and needing about 70 notches in volume.  I like to turn on DSP and apply the slow filter which smooths out the edge of the sound a bit as well.

Is that the fitear 006b cable?

Just curious, but does the DP-X1 support audio output via. its micro USB port? As in, could I just use it as a source for my music and connect it to my CEntrance Mini-M8?

I am able to connect my Fiio E18 using the USB port.

So then it does support audio output via. USB. That's great!

Another general question for everyone here. For those of you who live in the US, where are you buying the DP-X1 from? I can only find it on Ebay (with immediate shipping) for $800 or PriceJapan (with delayed shipping) for $600.

I've been using 5 GHz both before and after the update. No problems. Other problems have been detailed elsewhere but not relating to wifi.

Thanks for the reply.  I have tried all possible permutations of settings on my router (Asus RT-AC68U), but the DP-X1 still refuses to connect at 5 GHz.  It worked perfectly with the original firmware, and still connects fine at 2.4 GHz.  I am at a loss to explain the source of the problem, as the only variable appears to be the new firmware.

I would rather pay $600 to order from PriceJapan and wait for awhile to receive the Onkyo DPX1 than pay $200 extra buying on eBay. I do not absolutely like people making profit that way. Sorry it is just my thought!

Does the DP-X1 provide a true line out?

I agree with you. And I believe the shipping delays on PriceJapan are related to the holidays. Plus saving $200 is definitely worth a little extra wait!

Thanks!

I consulted with the guys from surf cables about a balanced cable for the Oppo PM3 that works with the Onkyo DP X1. They offered this solution:
http://www.surfcables.com/products/speaker-cable-other-products?variant=13587387715

They also mentioned that the Onkyo and A&K pin outs are different. Unfortunately for me I ordered a balanced cable from Ultimate Ears for my customs that is supposed to work with the A&K balanced and I was assuming it was going to work with the Onkyo :( .

I hope I can return the cable to  UE and get a new balanced cable for my customs that works with the Onkyo.
I checked the USPS tracking today and the DAP is already in my city waiting for delivery, so I won't be able to test the balanced out when I receive it. Oh well.

I have AK 100 II , AK 240 SS and AK 380 ,
The TRRS Balance cable For Onkyo DP X 1 is exactly The same TRRS balance For AK DAPs
