I really hope this is a software issue and not hardware because truth be told that’s a huge drop in functionality of this product. Hopefully we can get some official support on this issue soon or else I guess I need to return it.
Return it. I'm not confident there will be a fix anytime soon (if at all). Especially considering there is no way to flash a firmware update at this time

Darn, I loved how it sounds. Guess I need to start looking for a replacement.

Before you do, check the posts to this thread.
Iirc, this was a feature… or something…
I know it has an auto off idle feature but it should wake back up after double pressing the button according to the instructions, and I had it turned off anyway. Also I hope they didn’t build in a feature where I can’t use the screen at all for switching filters/preferences as that would be counterproductive lol.

Ok, that was the feature I was talking about.

Just curious what is your set up? (e.g phone/pc ...etc ... )

I tried it on my iPhone 13, iPad, and independently on an ibasso cb19 cable with a power pack and they all did the same thing. It was working fine for about a week and then just started blanking out recently.

This thing is slowly losing functionality… independent volume control no longer works unless I switch the volume -before- I touch the play button and it blacks out the screen.

Outch.

Ok, first thanks for the updates.
But I have to ask...
Did you buy the optional case?
How rough are you on products?

While there are compatibility issues and usb-c cable issues... you're the first who is saying that the product is dying.
So have to ask how much abuse?
(There is no wrong answer. )

I mean heck... we hear these reviews about how well built a product is... but what happens if it has a couple 3ft drops on to hard floors or outside on the concrete sidewalk?
Or I just emptied my pockets and tossed the device on the table w my keys and the thing stops working...

Just trying to put things into perspective.

Thx.

Just to add.

I am really looking hard at this.
Trying to find a US distributor that will actually carry it, or just bite the bullet and buy from a Chinese retailer.
Hearing your issues makes me want to pause and rethink. Sure its ~$128.00 USD w case, but there's the DITA Navigator (I have the Project M) or look at something else?
I mean the reviews are all positive... including the Tone Deaf Monk... which makes me want your situation to be a fluke.
The price? Its roughly a dinner & drinks w the missus so I can just eat some cheap Ramen instead...🤦‍♂️

I have the optional case and it’s been used indoors the whole time. I have the Shanling L3 cables that are recommended by the manufacturer (and besides those and the stock cables worked perfectly the first week I had this product). Never dropped, never been in a pocket, I even store them with desiccant packs to avoid moisture issues. I put them in a hard case using the original packing as a cutout so it doesn’t roll around. Either way, I’ve had this for a whole 11 days (with 2 hours or so usage each day) so I definitely feel it should last longer than this.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply.

Again, OUTCH!
yeah, this doesn't sound good.
I mean its definitely something to RMA...

And this is why I want to work w a US based retailer.
(Since I'm in the US. If something goes wrong... easier to deal w )

I was in the same boat as you prior to buying this. The sound is as good as the reviews from ToneDeafMonk and Andy but it’s nigh unusable at this point if I can’t even access the menus without Eddict player and the screen won’t even turn on half the time once it’s plugged in. I sincerely hope it’s a one off issue as it’s a good product when it’s working.
