Old pictures, Here's the TT2/M-Scaler. What a beast.

Dude!
Now you're just showing off.
I'm jealous. I'm really the type of guy who buys something and runs with it until it dies.
(My old Adcom gear had a channel die and it was cheaper to replace than repair.)

I would really love to see Darko do a review of this deck.
His 'favorite' portable currently is the Mojo2 which he velcro'd to back of his phone.

As like many things in life, there is a need to have a good balance.

HugoTT2 / M-Scalar = I could have bought a new car instead. Yes, its good, but is it that good $$$$ ????
Hugo2 = Expensive, but oh sooo worth the money to me! This silver colored one is my second one. I had a black one before that I blew up ( service center in Texas sucks ).

So do you want to wait over an hour to listen to music with the TT2 or would you rather just get a drink and be ready to go with the ONIX. If you got some serious headphones like the Utopia ( I have them ), then really there is a need for the TT2. For an IEM like the Ragnar, Hugo2 is more than enough and maybe the ONIX is smart money if there is such a thing in the Head-Fi realm of unlimited is always best.

I'm not sure why the Hugo2 would have to 'warm up' to sound great. You're right... I'd want it to be ASAP.

The other interesting thing... Onix Alpha XI1 uses the Cirrus Logic chips. Switch from the AKM and ESS chips that are in the 'flagship' DACs.

Not a lot of press on it... or maybe I'm missing it?

Chords must be hot enough to keep your coffee warm otherwise the amps sound...congested. The resistors and capacitors have a designed operating temperature. Circuitry resistance increases with temperature. Ohm's Law. Voltage = Current x Resistance. The increase in temperature is opening up the sound stage by increasing the power.

Trying out the Onix on an iPhone again. 5 minutes...no, can't. I don't think it gets much better. Personal taste, I don't think I've ever heard a dongle on an iPhone musical. Sorry @Shanling the Onix is brilliant off a PC, my apple phone as a source is junk, it isn't good

What source are you concerned about being compatible with the ONIX Alpha?

Maybe if you identify what model cellphone you wish to use the ONIX Alpha XL1 with, someone with experience with the same phone model or @Shanling can answer your question.

This is pretty okay, sounds good enough and small. Astell Kerns AK70. Very easy setup, works every time. I am sure you can find a lot of newer versions cheap on eBay $130 and you can put 500Gb micro sd card in it. Might be easier than figuring out your phone.

You need to connect as UAC1.0 (hold down the play/pasue button when inserting cable). LED will be red and screen will show UAC1.0.

I think the correct way is to hold the button down BEFORE inserting the USB cable.
Continue to hold the button until UAC 1.0 is displayed which will happen once USB power is available.

Thank you again!

What are people using to get 24-bit from an iPhone. I seem to hear only 16-bit.

Hi.
My Alpha with firmware 1.03 works great with intel nuc (win10 os) and tablet samsung sm-t225.
But it does not work with the Hiby R4 player, nothing happens when connected.
Fortunately, I could to start it from R4. If I connect it via ddhifi tc28cpro adapter. Also in the desktop position, I used quloos L03 cables and linear power supply, for better sound quality.

But it is possible even without connecting the power port and using a standard cable.

curios about this ddhifi tc28c pro, from the pictures are the power port also charging the hiby r4 or just powering the dongle?

I recommend for you guys to purchase Shanling L3 silver usb cable as an upgrade to Onix original stock usb cable. In my opinion it brings Onix to a higher level in terms of sound. Tried it today with my balanced LCD-X connected to Onix with with L3 silver usb-c cable - it added a bit more definition, more control, more clarity, better separation and soundstage. It is not a huge improvement, but definetely worth. I really enjoy Onix with my headphones 😊👍
