Congratulations and enjoy, I absolutely love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything!
Let us know how you get on with the tuberolling too.
And you might want to get this thread transferred to the Amplification forum

Congratulations!

Three weeks, eh? I don't think that's quite up to how fast TheSloth (fast, sloth oxymoron, no?
biggrin.gif
) went through a bunch of Headroom amps, so pick up the pace already!

Congrats! The raptor is a beautiful amp and with the upgraded power supply it will run cool and probably sound better than older raptors. Just a heads-up, I don’t think the raptor ships with a power cord and the tube sockets are tight and the pins thin so be careful. The waiting is going to be the hardest part.

the Raptor has been shipped. I will probably receive it Thursday.
how am I supposed to sleep or concentrate til then?

I long to hold the accompanying rca cleartop in my (gloved) hand.

I am more excited about this then any purchase I've made since I bought PS1's. wait, that was just last week!

But seriously, I am anticipating these more than any audio purchase I can remember. but wait, at my age I don't remember anything much before last week!

arrrgggghhhhh. such sweet agony...

the Raptor has landed.

it is as good as reviewers have claimed. better.

took me a bit to figure what worked in synch with what:
tube (cleartop for the moment)
interconnects (harmonic technologies "something or other")
pads with the PS1's (mostly bowl as the cleartop bass is a bit over the top with flats)
armchair (huge overstuffed leather recliner)

This is the only headphone amp I've tried that is every bit as good as driving my headphones from my berning power amp (via an adcomm gfs1 terminal box).
This sucker is simply a dream. Finesse, refinement, control,
prat, detail, sound/head stage, imaging - it is all A plus plus.

It is very transparent. to test this i ran the signal just for fun out of a marantz model 7 preamp loaded with telefunkins and it did not change the sonic sig at all (from my Aries or my Naim cd5.) not one bit. it was clear that this amp does it all without tainting what you feed it.

thank you Ray Samuels! now I can just listen...
