Very nice haul.  Craft beer can be pretty spendy.  Looking over my credit card statements for the last year, I spent a lot more on beer than any of my other hobbies.  I drink maybe 3-4 beers a week, so most of it ends up in my cellar waiting for tastings with friends.

It's been a while since I've had a beer of any sort. Today I had one of my favorites.

Franziskaner hefeweisse and Weihenstaphner hefeweissebier are two of my favorite hefes.  I do have an Ayinger brau weisse in the fridge at home that I haven't gotten around to drinking yet.  A lot of people seem to suggest that as their favorite hefeweizen. 
 
I'm on a self imposed break from beer right now though, after SF Beer Week last week.  But I'm already looking forward to some of the beer I have on dock, including a bomber of the January release of Alpine's Exponential Hoppiness that I really should drink soon.

So i just recently dove into the craft beer scene and have enjoyed it quite a bit. Ive been enjoying IPAs more than anything i believe but there are so many other good beers out there that its hard to pick a favorite. With my limited tastings though I'd have to pick Boulevard's Tank 7 as my favorite beer so far.

Bison Organic Chocolate Stout
 
Very dark in appearance, with decent lacing that lingers until the last drop.
Smells like Cocoa and roasted nuts.
Tastes like dark chocolate and caramel with a hint of coffee. I had one in a chalice that tasted overly nutty, perhaps damp? I had a second in this unique glass from Kwak and it tasted so much better.
 
Overall this is one my favorite chocolate stouts, it isn't heavy instead it's crisp and refreshing. Very drinkable!

On the topic of stouts - I'm a big fan of Mikkeller's Beer Geek Breakfast, an oatmeal stout, brewed with coffee.  Delicious

I like the Beer Geek Brunch Weasel more for sweeter fruitier roasted coffee flavor, as I found the regular Breakfast coffee flavor a bit over roasted and astringently bitter.

I loved Brunch Weasel, a great coffee stout. Unfortunately the bottom of the bottle splashed black nuggets into my second glass....which was made worse by the whole weasel/kopi-luwak thing.
 
Tonight I had another one of my New Glarus Black Top oatmeal stouts. It's actually one of my favorite oatmeal stouts, another great beer from NG. Not mind-blowing, but very enjoyable. I'm lucky to have a friend who has relatives in Wisconsin and is also a beer geek.
 
Yesterday I picked up two Goose Island Lolitas; haven't tried one yet. I'm debating about picking up more since they are just sitting on the shelf (arrived this week), but at $17.50 for a 650ml I'm a little hesitant.

I completely agree with you daigo. For a standard stout or porter, Founders Porter is by far my favorite. Once they get a little stronger or start adding unusual ingredients things get more interesting the lines begin to blur

Ah, I've seen the coffee sediment in some bottles while in the store.  I just make sure I pick up a bottle that doesn't have anything in the bottom, though I don't really worry about the weasel poop coffee bean thing since it has been washed and roasted anyway.  I think a new batch of Beer Geek Brunch Weasel is hitting shelves here right now since I saw a notice from a local store that they just received more bottles. 
 
I hear GI's Lolita is decent (and the rest of their Three Sisters line up of wild ales, Madame Rose and Juliet).  Haven't really been tempted to go out of my way to acquire them yet since they are pricey for what they are.  That being said, I just went way out of my way (and budget) to trade for a bottle of Rare Bourbon County Brand Stout so take my opinions with a grain of salt

On the topic of beer geekness, it took a lot of will power to not ask my traveling companions to make time for visiting Belgium during my upcoming trip through Europe in April.  I would love to eventually spend a week or so just travelling around Belgium and trying all the beers that are so difficult to acquire here, visiting breweries and monasteries, and soaking up the Belgian beer culture.  Same thing with Germany eventually as well. 
 
I will have to just find a way to enjoy my time visiting Spain, France, and Italy though

I picked up a 4 pack of Goose Island Pepe Nero and am anxiously awaiting trying it. The Bourbon County Stout is definitely at the top of my list of beers that I want to try. The store I bought the Nero from actually had a bottle of the Rare Bourbon County, but it was $100 for a 750ml, a tiny bit out of my price range.
 
The beer I am really keeping my eyes on is the Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout, which from what I can find will be sent from the factory around March 16. Something tells me it is going to be impossible to find though, but I guess I will have to see. I enjoyed the normal breakfast stout, but it isn't something I would go out of my way for. I am wondering if the bourbon aging will take it from meh to awesome though.
 
Has anyone else here tried it?

The Founders Porter sounds outstanding.  Where do you guys usually buy it?  I actually lived in Grand Rapids for a short while (10 years or so ago), but never heard of this place.  Of course, my taste in beer back then wasn't, shall we say, terribly elevated.
