I would suggest getting the Modi Multibit 2. You'd be doing yourself quite a favor. It pairs very well with my Vali 2 ++.
+1

IMO, the Modi Multibit is to the DAC world what the Vali 2 is to the amp world: superb sound, and far more than you might expect given the very affordable price.

The 5-star 5760 tube I purchased recently falls out of the socket when I plug headphones into my Vali 2++. The vibrations from the 1/4" inch jack notches appear to cause vibrations that push the tube's right-facing pins out of the socket.

Is this typical?

This does not happen with the stock tube.

Assume you mean a 5670? No, it’s not typical. Are the pins on the tube bent?

The other possibility is that the Vali is regurgitating the GE tube. Maybe Schiit built some AI into the 2++?

Yes, I meant 5670. Thanks for the quick reply. I removed the 5670, put the stock tube back in, then removed the stock tube and put the 5670 back in, and now the 5670 fits much more firmly. It sits maybe ~90 percent as firm as the stock tube, but now it doesn't pop out when I plug in headphones. Cannot explain. First time dealing with this kind of antiquated (but excellent-sounding) tech.

I assume that you are using a ECC88 to 5670 adapter?

Negative. The 5-Star 5670 drops right into the Vali 2++.
Wrong way of using your tube.
You must put an adapter like this one

Why would the Vali 2++ manual state the amp supports 5670 if the 5670 requires an adapter?

https://www.schiit.com/public/upload/PDF/vali 2plusplus manual.pdf

You are correct. The Vali 2++ takes the 5670's natively, no adapter required. I think the addition of the second "+" indicates a different variant of the Vali series that uses 5670-type tubes. I have one and a little pile of 5670s (including some 1956 GE "*****"'s). I use an adapter to use ECC88-type tubes.
