Are there any other places to get adapters for the Vali 2++ other than ebay? They seem to be impossible to find unless I'm looking at the wrong places. Tubedepot doesn't seem to have any. I've been wanting to try the RCA Command 5670 but it's impossible to find and the WE 396A but I really don't want to pay more for the tube than the actual amp. So that basically leaves me with wanting an adapter
Depending on the adapter you need, you could check out G1217 (something I really should do - I do like their low profile)
@Deyan makes adapters. I (and many others) can vouch for his work.

^^ only because of the experience / generosity of Head-Fi tube magi …. e.g. bcowen, Paladin79, Ripper2860, Galapac ….

For the Vali 2 (no +++s), without adapter: Amperex PQ 6922, Amperex PQ 7308, Sylvania 6922 (green print). With a 5670 —> 6922 adapter (from Tube Depot): Raytheon CK 5670, GE 5-star 5670, RCA command 5670.
Thank you sir!

Ohhh I somehow didn't even see the Garage1217 website. No kidding about low profile!

It looks like their newest adapter works in 2 ways. One of the ways are 6922/6DJ8 tube to be used in a 6N3P/5670/2C51/396A socket. There's also a 6SN7 to 5670/396A adapter that could be used in the Vali 2++.

@HWB3 recommend the popular JAN GE 5670 which seems like one of the best tubes to use with the Vali 2++ without an adapater. Especially at the price. I was close to getting this, but I've read so many good things about the tubes I mentioned above that it made me really want to try one of those. I might still get it to try it out since it's cheap.

So this will allow me to use the Gold Lion E88CC, Tesla E88CC, or the Electro Harmonix 6922 in the Vali 2++ which are the ones I've been wanting to try. Now I've got to decide which one of those to get! (Anyone with experience with any of those tubes or that has one they recommend feel free to say something). I particularly want something with good instrument separation since I like my instrumentals. Especially acoustics and piano. And something that sounds the most different than the stock tube.

I have a Chinese made ECC40 adapter that's built off PC board like the G1217s and it looks like it belongs in my Vali2. I can assume the build quality of G1217 adapters is magnitudes better

Does anybody know what tube ships with the Vali 2++? I just received mine yesterday and I can't identify the tube. The stock tube sounds nice but I would like to identify it for a point of reference. I ordered a JAN GE 5670W due to the favorable comments in this forum and I'm looking forward to comparing it with the stock tube.

Thanks in advance!

The product description says it's a 6N3P which is a Soviet era tube probably made in the 1980s. It has very similar specs to the 5670, though you'll have to tell us how you think it compares sonically.

The Reflektor 6N3P from the 60s is one of my fav 5670s. Prefer it to the GE, Sylvania, Bendix 5670 versions.

Right up there with the RCA Command 5670 and WE 2C51 - IMO. Which is subject to change without notice.

It's been a while since I have tube rolled as my previous desktop tube amplifier bit the dust. I'm looking forward to trying some of your favorites. It's nice knowing that my pocketbook won't be hit as hard since I don't have to buy in pairs!

I was surprised how much of a luscious, tube sound this little hybrid generated. I literally didn't expect it. The Vali 2++ is the first Schiit product I have owned. It was purchased for my desktop but I'm considering another for my main listening set-up.

How's the 60's vintage compare to 70s? - I think mine is early 70s. The thing i like most about it is it's closer in size to "proper" 9 pin tubes - and it does glow purty:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What is the optimum burn in time for the 6N3P and JAN GE 5670W? So far I haven't noticed any changes with the stock Vali 2++ tube after about 5 hours. It sounded nice right out of the box.
Opinions on optimum burn-in time vary around here. But on average, the optimum time will always be 20 hours more than the hours you've logged on said tube. 🤣

Enjoy the listening time. Either the tube or your brain will adapt. Or both.

I've got around 20 hours on the stock tube for the Vali 2++. I started to notice the bass having slightly more punch. Kinda like a slight rumble. The soundstage started to feel more open. That part could be placebo though. So far, I would describe the stock tube to be more on the neutral side with having a nice punch/rumble to the bass without making anything sound muddy. But like I said, I still only have around 20 hours so far bit that's what I'm noticing. It's a solid tube considering what you pay for the amp.

I placed an order for the Tung-Sol 6SN7GTB and a 6SN7 to 5670 adapter from Garage1217 as well as a 9 pin socket adapter to try with the Vali 2++. Looking forward to trying this tube out!
