mine is japanese model from audiocubes and it doesn't come with car kit....

Yes, I'm really looking forward to such a comparison. And some technical information to both units (chips, hardware). How long is the batterylife of imp550 with audio-cds?

ok everyone... i just discharge and fully charge the onboard battery.... now i'm going to test the battery life on audio cd.... i'll post again the battery life once it running out of battery.... hold back and sit tight...

Anyone know anything about the rumours that the 550 isnt a direct upgrade of the 400 and that some kind of upcoming "500" is instead? I'm not too sure, but I heard this somewhere and the lower price of the 550 compared to the 400 is kind of suggestive.

i'm testing my 400 right now with audio-cd (new gumsticks, charged/discharged 3times, volume 20, eq flat, 45 sec anti-shock, no external battery)

I found a PDF leaflet for iMP-500/550 from iRiver somewhere after a Google search, but I have deleted it already. But from the information printed there the only difference seemed to be doubled buffer size on 500 compared to 550. All the other specifications was equal (except from the "corner" on the 500).

Maybe your 550 can charge batteries much faster than my 400 - double power, double speed? I guess, we have to make a further comparison.

ya... i think so.... from the manual, 400 needs 6 hours while 550 needs 4 hours....

FYI, my 550 is now 6 hours straight running in audio cd mode and still remain 1 bar in the battery indicator (battery indicator is set at center,6)... i've changed 5 discs and played with the remote in between... all the setting same with headache except i'm using extreme eq...

I'm quite confident 550 can play at least 8 hours continuously with audio CD... at least so far so good...

p/s: FYI, the backlight is set to 5 sec from the first day i got...

you payed $250 for your 550, so hai? man.. i wanted that leather case.. please put good places to buy them at here. i will one soon as someone buy my god damned 350.. it's MINT BABY!!!
