Official HIFIMAN HE1000 Impressions Thread

Yesterday a Moon Audio Silver Dragon cable arrived for my HE1000................................................................................................

The Silver Dragon cable cleared up my main complaint about the HE1000:  Lack of attack on the snare drum..................................
...........................I just know the cable made this headphone perfect to my ears.....................................................
Game changer, for me anyway.  If you're struggling with the attack issue-- this cable fixes it.

WOW.  That's huge.

What is the exact name of that amp and how much does it cost?

Have you tried switching the sides of the headphone connector wires?  If the sound dropout stays on the same side, it's the headphone; if it moves to the other side, it's upstream.

Yeah, of course I tried to switch sides and I tried other cables. The hp is on the way back to hifiman and hopefully the wait won't be too long this time.

My concern is for the long term reliability of the jack. I've had two issues with connectivity of the jack already. Hopefully this is not a problem that will be an ongoing issue.

It's called FP030 mk iii, price is about usd 760

So the jury is out for the FP030 and the EF6 as the best amps for the HE-1k then?

Everyone keeps mentioning that the HE-1k scale very well with amps... I'd like to buy the best amp I can for the HE-1k.

If u want the best solid state amp, u can consider the Audio-GD Master 9 which is about usd1500. A bargain for what it is. The transparency is phenomenal. And he-1000's politeness and laid back nature can be compensated by the speed and punch of the M9.

I was actually considering selling my DAC-19 and going for a balanced Master 11 setup.

I heard mk ii. But mk iii is supposed to be more or less the same circuitry with a smaller casing.

The mk ii drove the he-1000 beautifully at about 1 o'clock, with plenty of headroom left. But it had a hard time driving the he-560, I heard distortion at good listening volume.

Interesting. Do you know what the DAC/source was connected to the mkii?

Trevor at Norne Audio is developing a solid silver litz cable as well, and a new copper/silver one as well. He tells me the solid silver one will remove any preconceptions of silver, that it will be incredible on my HD800!

Will those be available for the Nashville meet?

Sorry to hear about the issues, Matt.  I haven't seen a lot of posts about quality issues with the HE-1000 so far.  Must be just bad luck.

No issues with my HE1000 production version (or previous beta version).  Listening to it now via CEntrance DAC/amp and PC running Tidal HiFi - Lossless:
