and wich of them sounds best for rock and metal?

The C-710 is the newest revision of Denon's canal phone. IMHO, a superior improvement over the C-700/C-751. I had the C-700s and sold them, kept the C-710s. I prefer the C-710s with Comply foam tips, inserted inverted with the cable exiting the top, and over the back of the ear. I think the C-710s on my A816 are a better combo than the A816 with UE Triple-Fis, and far more comfortable to boot. A hair slower perhaps, but overall a much better listening experience with the C-710s.

conclusion: The c710 are better then the c751 at a lower list price? (I found the c751 for aproximately 110$ in Germany and c710 cost about 150$)

The 710's seem to be over-inflated outside of the USA... it's the reverse over here. They can be found under $100 usd quite often. I paid $90 for them I think...

For the $40 price difference? Hell yeah get the C-710s.

I did get mine for $100, but that's what I paid for my C-700s too. I would pay $150 for the C-710s though...

YMMV, but for my tastes, on my Sony, the C-710s are better and more comfortable than the UE Tri-Fi 10s. I haven't tried either on my iPhone, but I'll load some WAV files of the Beatles Mono albums over and see how each fairs on the iPhone too.

largely becasue the 751 has a cool dry sound with tighter punchy bass that doesnt utterly dominate. the bass is just so much more abundant all the time on the 710 and after about 30 min i find myself just wishing it would bugger off. the mids are more liquid and the highs are too but i just like the dryer presentation of the 751 for both. its something a little less common and it just feels so much better controlled than the overly sensitive hiss monster that is the 710.

oh and the 751 has an amazingly great cable, the 710 has an amazingly crap one

Interesting Mark. I found the bass on my C-700s more overpowering and less controlled than the C-710s. There must have been large enough changes to make them each more sensitive to sources than I thought. The killer was the sizzling highs on the C-700s over the smoother highs on the C-710s. On my Sony A816, I always had to have the bass and treble at -1 on the EQ. The C-710s can run flat or no EQ all the time.
