Obscure Chinese DAPs

  ...actually, speaking of the DX100....

I wonder if there is any activity in iBasso's skunkworks, to bring a replacement for the DX100?

Or perhaps iBasso have gone to sleep, after releasing the DX90 and pulling the DX100 (I hope not!)

Things have been extremely quiet in iBasso land, this past few months.

I think we all know deep down iBasso's working on something to replace DX100. Unlike FiiO who are open about things iBasso take a ninja approach. I believe Paul has been asked a few times in the threads, without any definite answer?

iBasso IS working on the DX100 successor (source - the 9th reply was from a guy who works for iBasso) but don't expect any time soon.

i hope they'll carry over the user-replaceable battery from the dx90.  a high-end dap with a cheap replaceable battery would be very desirable.

IMO, that DAP should appropriately be compared against trans-portable stacks, since it is so rediculously heavy for a supposedly 'pocket' DAP device.

I'm sure it sounds nice, but it's not really fair to compare it to much lighter (and more compact) DAPs. The Lotoo PG is already tipping the scales too far, at 280g, but tries to claw-back some credibility with exceptional build quality and fairly compact dimensions (except thickness, I suppose). HM901 and DX100 are also pocket-wreckers... (DX100 is 265g)

Agreed, Suzanne is a hefty TDAP, and it may not be fair to compare to more compact DAPs. Perhaps an N6 comparison is though as they're similarly priced and the N6 is also on the big side.

I do like the sound quality so far. Only had it a couple of days and not a lot of ear-time, but paired with Noble 6 and R70x... heavenly.

When it comes to ugliness, the QLS-QA350 takes gold. And silver. And bronze...:)

It looks like a Hammond project box with buttons on!

Come on, that looks like it was made in a factory! The QA350 looks like it was made in someone's shed.

i still use my md30 musiland dac but would refrain from paying them any more money (also owned md11).
Both had issues with QC, fw/drivers, HP noise, DC offset and output impedance and overstating specs vs measured specs.
Would probably like to try their ARM based SuperDSP and new opamp (superamp lol) but eh. no buying it.
that said it sounds like it's better vs their first try on the DAP MX 06 box which was really horrible.
also, yes not really a great fan of the box design and the player + dac arrangements

Surely looks like a Dap for the blind. A very detailed spec sheet though, wish all other DAPs were that well presented. And if those numbers are real it should be one of the best sounding ones

As it happens I bet none of the numbers are output impedance, just overquoted DAC SNR figures and the like lol

Oddly enough, with everyone saying they hate the looks of the Monitor 08, as I said earlier I love it, and a few of my non-audiophile friends agree with me(!)
And we're all trendy teens :p
