Obscure Chinese DAPs

I bit the bullet recently and purchased a V5i-dual op-amp directly from Burson. Opened up one of my two ACMEE MF-01 players, pulled out the Muses02 chip and put in the V5. No problem - brought me back to my days in engineering school doing labs! But I do admit I was relieved when it turned on again and actually played music.

Doing some initial A/B listening, it seems like the original amp sounds a little darker and thicker, while the V5 sounds a little brighter - but also I can hear more detail. I'm kind of a nut for detail, but I don't want things to be harsh. So this is going to be interesting! I plan to continue with some back-to-back listening with different styles of music.

I chose the player to open up because its battery can be heard moving around inside the player. I was hoping to secure it better while I had it open, but didn't find any broken clips or anything like that. Does anyone have a suggestion, maybe some material that would be safe to shim it or otherwise secure it in place?

Just a little bit of that blue - tac stuff inside works great.

Just use some double sided tape to secure the battery, is a fairly common solution.

It is time for some real DAP or Digital Audio Player review!!

The PAW 6000 from Lotoo is exactly the kind of DAP you guys have been asking me to review! With their latest firmware update, they added LDAC support, but they also already had a great battery life, and a nice simplistic DAP that simply works.

With EQ even while being used as a DAC for a computer, the PAW6K is pretty much perfect, and a nice gentle sound that's slightly soft, but detailed will pair well with most headphones and IEMs out there, including the harder to drive Zeus, or Hiss Sensitive ones!~

More info, comparisons, pairings and my honest impressions in the full written review -

xDuoo X2S:
A big, powerful and clear sound in a DAP miniature. It's very hard not to resist this little guy.
The truth is that I was really surprised by its size and the feeling of power it offers. On the other hand, I'm getting old and small letters are not for me anymore...
It's been a long time since a DAP came out for this price, a paradigm of what this thread is all about.

Did you open up the back of the case? I see those screws in your photo, so it seems like it'd be easy ...

I didn't resist and am very impressed with size, power and sound.

Can you post a picture of the X2S screen? I am interested in one but have not seen any real pictures of it and what is the UI like?

I don't think I will, at least for now.

I have entered a Tour of a local shop in my country, to enjoy the HiBy R5 Saber for a week. Both DAPS arrived at the same time. This little one will have to wait... But I like it.IMG_20210504_000906.jpgIMG_20210504_000915.jpgIMG_20210504_000937.jpgIMG_20210504_001000.jpgIMG_20210504_001029.jpg

bit as spec looked good
but $27 shipping on $59 USD device is kind of defeating the price
