The 30th is jake with me. (So's the 23rd, actually.)

If there's any interest/desperate need I will bring my Pioneer DV563a (SACD/CD/DVD...). I'll look through my vinyl wall (no, I'm not that kinky -- wall-o'-analog LPs) in case there are any worthy of schlepping along to Aaron's analog emporium. I'll also add the very few Hybrid/SACDs I have thusfar:

Alison Krauss+Union Station Live (great 2-disc set)
"Cantate Domino" - Oskar's Mottet Choir (+organ & brass choir)
Bill Evans Trio Live: "Waltz For Debby"
Steely Dan: "Gaucho"

...and maybe a few very good Redbook CDs -- but then, I'm sure Aaron's got tons.

Aaron, are there any CDs/SACDs/LPs you don't have that you'd like to show up at the meet, in case any of us has it/them?

Romanee...
Waltz for Debbie and Moonbeams, if you have them. Any vinyl would be great. Just as long as it's clean and fresh...sort of like a Bud (but it doesn't have to have a freshness date....older is sometimes better with LP's).

I do have "Waltz For Debbie" on Hybrid/SACD.

This evening I might have time to look through my vinyl to hunt for treasure. Many of my jazz LPs did not have audiophile versions when I bought them and not that many were well recorded/engineered. I'll let you know after I look. If not tonight, I'll look Wednesday eve.

And are you going to use the Qualias in a analog setup?......Sorry to be so annoying but the Qualias were designed for the new up-comming and the ones already stablished "high resolution digital formats" (SACD and DVD-A till now, and maybe the new ones), to use them in an analog rig, IMO will just be overkill for the flaws of those old formats and systems, just take into consideration that the Qualia is an extremelly sensitive and delicate headhone (like anyone before), and it will show up all the noises that it could find in the setup, from the surface noise to the scratchs, hums etc...to whatever it found, don't you think, guys??? For the rest of the headphones it is just OK, but for the Qualias, I don't think is a very good idea??? Are you sure it will be a good idea??? Well to try it will not harm....but ????

Good point, Sovk -- I've experienced it's sensitivities and the sometimes painful results.

Since there's a nice analog setup there and lots of headfi-ers still have analog systems, it would at least be an interesting -- if possibly brief, given the sonic pitfalls -- experiment.

I use them to listem to LP's half the time. Except for the initial second, when the cart. hits the entry groove, the rest is a most pleasant experience. I try to only listen to quality recordings, on records that are treated with respect. As with any headphones, you do hear more surface noise and imperfections, than with speakers, but it is worth the listen. A rose with thorns, so to speak.

Analog LP's have a wider freq. range than CD's (10-60k, as opposed to 20-20k), so, even though it isn't what SACD and DVD-Audio output, it is wider than Redbook digital).

I always enjoyed my Omega II's (B4 I sold them), more than the R-10's or HD600's, when listening to vinyl. The laidback-edness of the Stax, seemed to be a warmer, smoother combo. The Qualias' offer a truer representation of the music, thereby magnifying the gratification of the analog experience.

Tom...I was hoping you would bring the electro's for comparison. This will be great!

Pete...I have the VPI 16.5 cleaning machine, but it can be annoying to the open airs.

Damn ... you guys are killin' me.

I will be in No. NJ over New Year's, and would kill to attend this summit, but alas, it will be the end of Jan. Have you no consideration for weary travelers from afar?

Have fun - maybe another time when schedules merge better ...

If my wife and I can stay at your house in May, to go diving, I will bring the Qualias

(You don't have to answer that, I'm having fun).

Dude ... you're on for a place to crash in May whilst diving. I'll even take you sailing to some special places, if you don't mind that slow mode of transport.

Of course, there is a catch ... you must bring some gear to combine with mine for a mini meet. Note that I cannot compete with Wayne for diving attractions or audio gear, but I have a boat, and he does not

Best would be if we could lure him from Cayman for mini summit, and we could have a jolly time.

The Dry Tortugas are a treasure, and the SR71 batteries last just long enough for a round trip from Sarasota. So does other gear with the inverter from the 12v batteries.

Book a flight to Tampa orSarasota, tell me the arrival time, and I'll pick you up.

Gene, do you dive? Trust me, when Aaron and Telica go on a dive trip, they dive, dive and dive! You won't see much of them during the daytime unless you go along. I'd love to join you on this outing if the timing is right. Telica is a totally amazing cook and an all around sweetheart!

Aaron -

I don't mean to interrupt the really great fly, dive and sail chat. Ignore this 'til another time, but I'm fading, so I have to write this now: from the list of selections I pulled from the vinyl wall, are there any titles that you are at all interested in hearing at the meet? If not I'll leave them all home and save myself a sore back & shoulders from lugging them from midtown to "the outer boros". (That's a heavy pile of plastic.)

Let me know at some time or other. Thanks.

If you're serious...your on. We would need to rent a compressor, unless you know all the stopping points between Sarasota and Key West to refill 4 tanks (2 dives per day). A jolly time could be had by all. We went on Blackbeards, which is a 60' sailboat for 20 divers for 8 days, and all we did was eat, sh-t, dive. and party. It will be etched on our minds forever.

Peter, I will revisit your list, and pick 5 winners, so it will be a light carry.
