ROFL! I wonder how many agents of RIAA are scanning these forums right now? (Agents of RIAA - sounds like a sci-fi flick waiting to happen)

Mac, has your robot been listening to the Braveheart soundtrack lately?

"What's that, Mr. FBI agent? A brand-new Sony XA777ES SACD player, just for me? Well, I might know something..."

I have around 200 original CDs. That number will be increasing.

Maybe 1000 CDs - who has time to count. Started buying in '87, but continued buying records simultaneously.
Have about 2500 LPs, 400 78s (just got rid of about 1000), 300 cassettes (no new acquisitions for years), few dozen cylinders and open reels. Just dumped my 8 tracks a couple weeks ago.

I have a little over 80 original CDs. Nothing compared to some of you guys, but all my friends make fun of me for actually buying CDs when I can burn them so easily. ...whatever...

Hey, I thought you guys was my friends!

Let the RIAA come and kill me........honestly.......what - OHHH you only own 12 Trane discs and you burned one from the library and the world will come to pieces now and you're cheating John Coltrane (even tho he's long dead) and his family (even though they collect virtually nothing) and especially the Impulse! label (even tho they've already CHEATED "mr. coolvij" already with their overpriced discs).

Coolvij.

The music of John Coltrane is fantastic. What more can one say about him? But you knew that already

I just love the "Blue Train" album but espcially "A Love Supreme" from your avatar. Was lucky enough to get a sealed Blue Note LP of "Blue Train" late last year. Yummy!

I've gotten now where I often prefer to listen to the 'Trane than Miles.

Tell me, did he ever record any stuff with Oscar Peterson as OP is one of my favourite Jazz artists.

I don't believe they worked together on any albums - but OP is great.

You may like the work Trane did with Miles before he went solo - it is less adventurous - tho none less than Blue Train - but still shows Tranes skills.

Another excellent "straight jazz" record is Thelonious Monk w/ John Coltrane. Exceptional stuff.

John Coltrane - as is obvious from signature, avatar, and last post in this thread - is a favorite musician of mine.

Actually - he is my favorite........amazing..........

Trance-inducing to my ears

Eighty may not seem like much, but I've been buying for 20+ years now (15 I think for CDs) and a lot of those I bought used.

Let your friends joke, but I've never dubbed anything that I still didn't wish I had a ligit copy of, case and all. I just wish I'd bought fewer tapes. And hadn't joined BMG.

Coolvj, just promise me you'll buy some of what you burned once you start working and I won't say a word.

Of course I'll buy the originals once I have the money. I mean......I'm just desperate to hear Trane....and I don't sink to MP3 levels, don't worry. File-sharing is - well......not for me

Eh, coolvij is fine, according to a recent slashdot article, coolvij has no liability for copyright infringment as he is, and will be for quite some time, a minor.

Anyways my CD collection is not nearly as large as I'd like... I still haven't found that type of music I like to really explore... oh well
