Do these kilobuck cables include voucher for a local escort agency to get their most expensive woman (man) for a night? Just in case improvements brought by cables themselves are not enough to make you ecstatic...

Boy, I am amazed at the anti-cable vibe here at headwize.....I am new to headphones but old to audio...cable do make a difference and expensive cable do make a bigger difference. All with in the contect of the system surrounding the cables and the doctrine of dimishing returns...

I have see significant influnces on my set via different cables...Now, I am not saying lets all go out and mortage the house for speaker cables...but borrow some from a hi-end shop...change one pair for another....listen critcally....go back and forth between pairs....You will become a beliver...

I hope...

I think most of us at head-fi are actually pretty receptive to aftermarket cables. That's one of the reasons we have a separate forum for cables, etc. We just enjoy ogling and joking about 5 digit cables...I mean, who doesn't

MooGoesTheCow is right. I believe in cables making difference, heck I'm spending hundreds of dollars this month on them (speaker, interconnect, etc.). But couple of meters of wire costing $20 grand US is a trap for the vain, plain and simple.

Actually, ALL the people I know who have substantial amounts of money have reached that state by NOT spending it, and buying just plain regular cheap discounted wares. Then there's people like me who buy at the peak of price/performance curve. And then people who but at the top of the price list (but not necessarily getting the top performance) for whatever their reason is. Well, there are also people who buy on the advice of salesman, or whatever looks the best in their room, or whatever is on the top of their budget range etc. I guess everyone is right in their own way.

Owen, people are just marvelling at the price of some of the more exotic cables on the market today, I doubt there's a lot of anti-cable sentiment going around. However, I never do understand those occasional messages seen on Audio Asylum mocking buyers of expensive audio equipment and ancilliaries; it's not exactly the most receptive crowd for that..

Owen,

I think it's safe to say that Head-Fi has a pretty big contingent of cable difference believers.

We tease every once in a while about price points and the like, but most of us here probably spend a healthy bit on cabling relative the total price of our rigs.

I'm definitely a cable believer.

Sad thing is that those insane ultra priced cables sound WAAAAAAAAAYYYY better than most stuff, but that said, I don't think they are worth the price tag, and even if you by chance thought that they were worth it, most people wouldn't be able to buy them due to their insane prices. So I guess, for many people it's better to lie to themsleves and pretend that these types of cables must suck due to their huge price tag rather than face the truth.

All I have to say to that is, oh well...

Do they really? Just because something is expensive doesn't mean that it's good. And whether something sounds good is higly subjective and therefore psychologically altered by the price. People buying stuff just for the price are generally called "snobs". I sometimes fall into the same trap myself so I know.

Besides many people swear by tubes and buy kilobuck amplifiers with THD of 1% because they like the distortions. Why wouldn't at least some of $25k cables be a $1000 worth of cable and labour and $24,000 worth of snake oil? I'm sure some of expensive stuff is the real thing but I bet some is not.
