For those using 5800 or any Nseries/ExpressMusic phone, try using "Lineout" instead of "Headphone". I was floored by 5800 "Lineout". Huge power even at min volume, sound a lot better even at equivalent "Headphone" SPL. Everything just sound fuller.

I always ignored other options till today since i accidentally touched "Lineout", nearly caused me to lose my hearing

thank you so much. Now volume at 4 , the sound is still blasting in my ears through ie8.

Now that's too loud...reduce to 2-3

I noticed that on the equalizer, if you set it manually, the lowest is only 53hz and the highest is only 11.8khz. Does that mean that mean it only goes that low and that high?

It doesn't. The 3GS sounds a lot better.

Have you tried both? So far I've read that 5800 is the best sounding music player phone. Not sur if w995 or the 3gs is better than it.

Yes. I have also tried other recent Nokias including the N85, N96, and N97. The 3GS is still way ahead of them. Too many people are afraid to admit the 3GS into music phone comparisons, for whatever reason (probably because it stomps all over everything else).

^^ Does the 3GS have a custom EQ ??? I never liked Apple only because for a device that claims to be a music player, they dont have something as basic as a custom EQ.

Nope. Sometimes I wish it did, but even when jailbroken there's no custom EQ available whatsoever. You're stuck with the presets.

Anyone tried the Motorola ROKR E8? IMO it's better than any of the XM series I listened too.

I tried the 5300, 5310, 5610 and 5800. All were incredibly good, but I still prefer the more natural-sounding E8. There is much more detail in my opinion.

Really? I think that phone is very similar to EM30, I don't find it good at all. Maybe the audio chip on E8 is different.

hi guys.. using 5800 too, and loving it..

can you please share your settings for the equaliser and the "settings" part in the music player that would produce the best sound with my senn cx500 w/ fiio e5(w/ bass booster turned on)?? BTW, i hope you guys are bassheads too XD

right now, i edited the bass booster equalizer so it would sound good with the "loudness" and the "stereo widening" both turned off..

or are you guys using other mp3 apps that produces better sound?
