So my UE Triple-Fis finally took a crap after 6 years of gym and abuse. I think the left earpiece blew out. I got a ton of usage out of the $95 spent on these and Logitech gave me a mini-Boom Bluetooth when I had an issue with the cable out of warranty.
 
Would the W30's be an upgrade to my TripleFis? How's the build quality on these since they're supposed to be using the adventure material? I mainly use my IEMs at the gym and I use them a lot..

It's so tough not having had both at the same time to volume match and AB, but I really think the W40 has more bass than the W4.

Other than that, yes, of course W40 has more bass (actually mid bass) than W4 which shrinks the soundstage.  W4 is the better sounding IEM IMHO.

W30 is an upgrade in terms of fit and ergonomics.  Sound  is about even.  I prefer the W30 for a MUCH better midrange.  TF10 bass and treble might be just slightly better so call it a draw overall.

Thanks to Spyro for replying to my query re the 2 Westone cables.  I received my W20's this am.  Very very pleased - both with the sound - but especially the fit. With my particular size of silicon tips ( which I prefer to "foams") they feel as if I could wear them all day - or - "hardly know you are wearing iems"!!  Excellent ( for me) right out of the box. ( I'm coming from Superfi 5 pros  - love the sound - but the fit/comfort/sticking out issues meant few long sessions with them for me!)
 
Re the 2 cables - I was surprised that the "controls" were quite so "high up" - kind of "dangling from the right phone" at about chin level (on me!). Somehow I'd thought that the controls would be lower down - maybe "below" the Y piece ( I'm sure some old Sony minidisc players I had were like that?!)   Anyway - it was easy and quick to just disconnect that cable and put on the "braided" one. I actually prefer that as a cable per se - regardless of the "controls" issue.  Like the little slider to "gather up" the 2 cables somewhere below my chin!!  Overall ( and I appreciate that I've only had these a few hours!)  I'm a very happy bunny.

Controls have to be high to bring the mic up closer to your mouth.

So probably a stupid questions but I just received some W30s that I purchased from sonicelectronix.com and noticed on the faceplates it shows W30 instead of just the W that I see when I'm on Westone's site.   Did I get some old version of the W30s or maybe a newer version or are they all the same?

Ha! I though one of us had lost our mind. All of this makes so much  more sense now!

I will ask my Westone contact to find out.  Maybe they updated their faceplates?  It's just a removable face plate after all...

I am 99% sure the plates you received are new and the website plates are old.  Yes, they changed the plates recently.  W40 states W40.
