New WESTONE W-SERIES

Mmm, have sent my pictures to Westone. The verticle line is a nicely formed ridge. The 20 degrees offset line is opened, irregular and particles can get in as you can feel the opening.

My dealer said send them back after seeing this picture. If you see picture full size, do you think that irregular crack is correct part of manufacture?

Where did you buy yours from? I'll wait and see what Westone say to you.

Actually, I've just seen that picture you received full size on a PC rather than on a phone. It does match mine in that there is one deeper groove so if that is the case, I'm really glad I haven't sent it back. They sound great and I would be worried of another cracking one if it was an actual defect. As for appearance, you never look this close normally!

Sonic welding...what a load of crap. Its where they put the two halves together and melt it. -_-;

No sonic welding on google! Only this thread comes up, LOL. Ultrasonic is there.

That's a given, you don't weld by yelling at things you know.

I think it's all normal.  Just looked at my W40.  It has that same deeper groove, and if you look sideways (sorry, got some lint stuck in the picture) you can see an overlapped joint in there.

So I've just got a reply from Westone after seeing pictures thanking me for bringing it to their attention and asking me to return them to my dealer!
