Could you please recommend open back headphones for the SPK? I would like to have one which could be driven by the SPK directly without an amp.

Is sp1000 cu warmer than the sp1000M?..or just about the same warmth ?

SP1000Cu sounds warmer, has a bit more bass, as well as lusher and fuller sounding mids. SP1000SS has less but tighter bass, sounds a bit leaner and offers a slightly larger soundstage (more width). The differences are not huge, but clearly audible imo in direct comparison with resolving headphones. It is a matter of preference and/or synergies with the headphones used, which one you prefer.

You’re right, I shouldn’t be encouraging people to purchase products from unauthorized retailers. I’ve been living in China for five years and I guess after a while you forget things like that. And if you can find a seller you trust then it’s generally useful information.

There are a lot more authorized retailers for foreign products now vs five years ago. If I remember correctly, I think there were only three genuine Apple stores in China just five years ago. Now there is at least one or more Apple stores in most major cities. But we still don’t have a genuine Apple store in Changsha. Changsha even has an 8,400,000 population.

Which is the best DSD files the SP1000 will support? Hd track has 2.8 and 5.6, am I ok with the 5.6?
DSD confuses me, but I'd like to hear and see if it sounds better.

Nevermind. DSD 5.6 works fine.
Well, it sounds bad but it isn't A&K's fault. It sounds like HD tracks sold me a very high res file from a vinyl rip or something. This isn't the first time I heard a song speed up or slow down mid-song.

I don’t know why he is referring to different sound qualities of the firmware. It is my gut feeling that the sound has never changed since day 1. Also I am convinced, that it is not AK’s philosophy either.
