100+ Head-Fier
Samsung 256GB microSD cards have been tested with all of the Astell&Kern players including the SP1000 and are supported.
Jason,
Thanks for the info. Do you happen to know if PNY cards will work?

PNY cards should work without issue. Any brand should be compatible as long as the card is formatted with the FAT32 file system (which supports capacities up to 1TB). We've seen some issues with larger capacity cards formatted on Windows machines with NTFS not always being recognized and do not recommend formatting cards with NTFS.Jason,

Yes, you are correct. FAT32 supports up to 2TB, not 1TB.Technically fat32 support up to 2TB.

Astell&Kern recommends FAT32 formatting. As long as we are "chewing the fat", what about exFAT, which Microsoft claimed optimized USD flash drives and SD card?
Thanks again.

Astell&Kern recommends FAT32 formatting.
Personally, as a user, I have used exFAT formatted 128GB Samsung cards in multiple players without issue. But officially, Astell&Kern recommends formatting cards with FAT32.
Yeah, I get what you were trying to say, but the comparison is nevertheless, a little imprecise, if I may, since one is a standalone DAP and the other is a DAP with an amp. A better example should be a comparison between the AK380 cu and the SP1000 SS/cu. Or, you could pair them with the same 3rd party amp.I do not try to convince anybody of something, I just wanted to share my impressions. I have no skin in the game, because I do not want to sell my AK380Cu setup or something like this! Well, the Utopia is a rather undemanding headphone. Moreover, I can only compare what is on the market already. An additional SP1000 amp is not. I simply compared the SP1000 with my setup that I consider to be best, and this is AK380Cu WITH amp. But to be fair, I have made my comparison with the Cu amp set to low gain. This means, both setups had about the same output power (4 Vrms balanced).
Let your ears judge. Why allow the subjective opinions of others cloud your perspective on things? Head-Fi is a fantastic place to share opinions and ideas; occasionally, it is also a platform to have a debate on things. In the end, however, it's only your preferences that matter.you guys i can't understand you, when at the beginning I was writing that the AK380cu and it Cu amp was special, and better even than the SP1000 : someone here replied that It was not true. and that the SP1000 was better and upgrade compare du the AK380 and its amp cu. and you said nothing, acting the fact that he was right, and what he said was correct and true.
Now I have sold my AK380 cu and its cu AMP, you're trying to sell me the fact that the cu combo is the best. That is a bit strange ....
I can read these days many possessors of cu combo writing and writing ... Really I'm surprised. To my ears, I prefer my SP1000.
thanks
Don't you need to configure your USB type C to do such things ? My phone has USB C and I have to pick an option when connected it to laptop
