New TOL A&K DAP : the AK Ultima SP1000

I have the same DAC problem with latest firmware 1.65 (latest in Asia).
It seems to "default" to the dark sound when a new audio file is loaded, so I need to touch the DAC setting whenever I play a new song which is frustrating.
I am ok if there is an option to select this dark sound (which I don't like) but obviously it is a bug because it changes itself when a new file loads.
Is there any way to roll back to earlier firmwares?
Much appreciated.

Does anyone know what is going on at AK facilities? I had a problem with balanced minijack and left my SP1000 at the local store where I had bought it. It was 3 months ago... Guys at the local store are saying that AK is just not responding to them
@NickMit I responded to your PM.

New custom EQ present created by Jerry Harvey available for the SP1000 for use with the Layla AION and other Layla models. The EQ setting can be downloaded on the Astell&Kern website - https://www.astellnkern.com/eng/con...w.asp?search=&word=&idx=1000125&page=1&no=117

Jerry Harvey discusses the EQ preset and how to use the EQ on Astell&Kern players in this YouTube video -

can one of you kind SP1000 owners tell me what the EQ values are on this file? via screenshots or just the numbers would be fine if you can. ( I dont have the SP1000 and I'm trying to set up layla with PEQ on a hiby r6 2020, but the AION EQ file is a .dat file and no values are listed). Thank you in advance!

exact same situation here with v1.65CM (my player keeps insisting that this is the newest version - I can't seem to get 1.66).

the new dark sound signature doesn't jive with my already-dark-sounding vision ears VE8...

--> it "defaults" back to dark sound whenever I change a song or change the service (switching back and forth between roon, on-board player, and qobuz). audio gets back to "normal" whenever I change the filter setting.
--> the problem doesn't seem to occur when the player just moves on from one song to the next in the playlist (tbc) - only when I manually switch songs or services.

@AK: please provide a fix asap!

It certainly limits the use of AK for Mac users particularly as Apple moves its product line to the M1.
It’s a huuuuuge downside for me, one of the main selling points for me was being able to use the SE200 as a usb DAC. Luckily I listen to most of my music via streaming or SD card so I don’t use the file transfer that much.

Hi Guys need some advice. Looking for an open back headphone that can effectively work with SP1K. Currently interested in Hifiman 1K SE, does anyone have this combo running off the DAP alone.

Mostly listen to Jazz and Classical stuff.

Any other suggestions welcomed.

Thanks

I have the HE1Kse running from the AK SP1000. I listen mainly to classical. It is a good combination. No need for the optional amp.
