Should I be able to select the different USB modes without being plugged in to the computer? It seems to be stuck on MTP as touching or holding the DAC Input button does not change it and touching or holding MTP does not deselect it (whether plugged in or unplugged).

You have to connect the player to the computer before you can select it to DAC Input.

That stays greyed out as well unfortunately, that is, it does not select when you touch the button though they make a noise (slight click) like they are trying.
You might have to try another USB C cable. If you are able to transfer files from computer to the player using the same cable I don't see why it will not function for the DAC.

I cant transfer files from the computer, the computer(s) dont see the device at all.
I'd say it's the problem with the cable or the USB port on the computer. When I first received my sp1000 my PC can't access it too until I changed to another USB port

I would also say that the issue would have to be your Computer or your USB C to USB cable.

You need an app to open the files on ur device. My PC did not notice what I plugged in until I download the app.

OK, new question, at what stage would you say to yourself, it isnt me, its the SP1000 and return it for work. I have tried this now on 2 different computers with 2 different cables (on each) and it is not being recognised. It charges fine, it's just the connectivity.
