New TOL A&K DAP : the AK Ultima SP1000

@S Crowther and @ksalno
Thank you for your comments. But as I was saying, I have vintage CDs which I don’t want to have in my digital library.

I was asking if someone has connected their CD player to their DAP because I would like to use the physical disc in those cases but still like to benefit from the internal DAC of the sp1k
The ripper also acts as a player and is connected to the AK by USB.

I don’t know if this works or not, but provided your CD player has a digital optical output (toslink / spdif), you can theoretically use this converter to get a USB signal you can then feed to sp1k.

(again, don’t know if this works, use at your own risk)

I just realize that. I will look into that option

I will check it out, thanks

UPDATE: I am sticking with Qobuz after further listening due to its better SQ. Amazon is more similar to Tidal. Qobuz just sounds more "dimensional"; for example, Qobuz sounds like two separate individuals are singing while in Amazon it would sound like it's from one person with 2 voices.

Qobuz would be perfect for me if they were not missing so many tracks that can be found in Amazon/Spotify.

================================================

Amazon Music also working for me with 1.41CM firmware. SQ seems to be on par with Qobuz Tidal but the differences are
1) new releases can be found on Amazon, not on Qobuz
2) Amazon UI and functionalities are so much better than Qobuz

Per Amazon app, SP1000 device capability is at 24-bit/48 KHz. I think this is an AK issue as when I play tracks at 24-bit/96 KHz, SP1000 is only at 24-bit/48 KHz!!!
Very disappointing.

Does anyone have info if SP2000 is also limited?

In any case, I am probably going to ditch Qobuz for Amazon.

I've twice tried unsuccessfully updating SPKM to 1.41. The installation seems to be going well until the end, where instead of booting normally it takes me to the bootloader screen. Not doing anything different from the last few times I've updated without issue. Any idea what's going on?
