I did the same, the size difference is so nice.
Do you feel the 1000M is superior in the upper mids? I heard it has more resolution and body than the 1000.

Honestly the sound difference between my Lapis Blue M and the SP1000SS was negligible to my ears, but I think Twister did a review of both so it may be better to check that out. I notice a big difference in sound between the Blue M/SS and Gold M though.

I was thinking of getting the sp1000m gold, or should I spend bit more on the sp1000?

That’s hard to answer, to me the gold has more body than the SS and feels “meatier” in sound. It pairs very well with my A18t.

If size will be an issue for you and you’re looking for something more portable I’d highly recommend the M SP1000 over the regular one, the difference is quite big in terms of portability.

atFolix are selling good screen protectors on AMZ and eBay
Why did you get a sp1000m to replace sp1000. Just curious
Because of the size and weight. I have a SP1000 that I cannot take out because I cannot put it in my pocket and it is heavy, so I bought a SR15 which is very good but not excellent. SP1000M is a good balance between size and performance. Now I'm selling my SP1000 and SR15

Yeah, I should take another look at the Twister review. I didn't like the 1000Gold. I like the bigger sound stage on the SS and CU, but I have read reviews that claim the SSteel, for all it's detail and neutrality, can sound a tad thin.

I didn’t really find the SS thin to be honest. It has a nice smooth sound signature. From what I remember the Ibasso dx200ti w amp 1 ti sounded thin to me if you have heard that

I reread that Twister6 review; he claims the lower mids are a tad fuller. I've heard the 1000, but only briefly.

I didn't care for the gold, i own the blue. The gold was a bit too warm with a slightly 'thick' sound.

The spk SS is never thin , especially if you use iems . I'm currently using my solaris with my SS and even in SE it doesn't sound thin at all .
OK, thanks for that.

The N8 sounded wonderful to me. The problem i had with it was the weight, it's like a metal brick!
