New TOL A&K DAP : the AK Ultima SP1000

How would you compare the AK t5p 2nd gen to other full size headphones?
Too early to say, it is still burning in. Not sure how long it needs.
Out of the box the bass is really over emphasised and bleeds into the lower mids.
The best phones I have heard for the AK are AKG812 but they are open. The Ultrasone ed.5 are closed and go well if you like the Ultrasone house sound (I do).

When you say "the Roon team" do you mean the team at Roon working on the AK implementation or the team at AK working on the Roon implementation?
Is there any way to give us an indication of how much longer we have to wait?
The certification team at Roon. Unfortunately I do not have an ETA at this moment. Once I do, I will share.

Thanks for the response.
Do you happen to know the answer to my question about the AK t5p eq?
I apologize, I thought I had responded. There will be no dedicated EQ setting for the AK T5p on the SP1000/SP1000M. The AK240 was the only player to have a dedicated EQ setting for the AK T5p, no other players have since.

Oh dear. Then I hope the sq changes with burn in, otherwise the box needs to carry a health warning: for bass heads only. The bass is so prominent and muddled that there is not much point other people listening to it! Of course I am referring to the new 2nd. gen. model. I never heard the original. I have only had the phones for 3 days so I hope things change: trying to use the AK EQ function is a well known waste of time.

As this setting is only for output, it should be set to what your attached DAC can accept.

You can still buy one from AK online store or other retailers. But at least in Japan, it is a limited edition to 200 units.

But the problem is...my friend got a brand new one from an AK dealer few weeks ago, and found it has a "bad contact" issue of the 2.5mm jack...therefore he sent it to the ECT (AK distributor in HK) for repairing (or a replacement) . Few days ago, a ECT technician just replied no replacement will be available and similar cases has been reported by more than one customers, he also claimed they are likely caused by an issue during the CNC process ). At this stage, all they can do is to apply a black tape on top of the edge of the 2.5mm jack to avoid the headphone plug from contacting the metal enclosure which causing sound distortion ....obviously this is not a permanent fix and is not acceptable... :triportsad:

That's quite unfortunate. My unit has no problem at all.
