New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)

Just as an example, my easiest to drive IEM's are Shure SE846. When I got a UK/UE A107 before sending back I had to have volume at 85-90 while on my Japanese import replacement about 45-55. This time I've just gone straight for a A307 from Japan. Both no High-gain on these base models.

Well that makes sense since the output is halved from 35mw to 16mw for the UK model. I listen to music very loud, so 85 to 90 was my level with a105. So I'll know very quickly if the output changed on the US model. I'll be really surprised if it did because as I said, 1.1 vrms = about 35mw @ 16 ohms. Which is the same as the Japanese model.

Actually if I bought it on Amazon jp it would be cheaper even with shipping. So I could go that route if I'm not happy with the volume output. Or TBH I could just use the little ibasso dco3 pro I've been using with the Sony, sounds excellent and has plenty of power and the Sony has Micro sd which my phone doesn't.

The issue I know I'll have with getting the jp model for the UK will be remembering to use a voltage converter for charging it as I'm sure jp model will require 100v not the 230v we have here
No all just charge via standard USB and only come with the cable, no charging block, I've had or have Japanese A107, ZX507 & WM1AM2 and all just standard USB C cable included.

True, but you're telling me you've never plugged a USB cable into your phone charger etc because it's handy?

You've lost me! They can plug into laptop USB wall point or USB phone charger. They are autosensing on V and Amps based on device being powered.

Better to avoid some Samsung Fast chargers with Sony DAP's but not based on Japanese/US/UK/EU version.

Yes but UK provides 230v and on Japan spec it says if you use that it will damage the unit. You'd need a step down transformer to use the phone charger surely
Its output that counts, they don't include the power supply.

Various 5v, 9v and amps outputs. The device only takes what it can use.
One I use for charging many devices.

US one might show 110v input but outputs will be same. US similar Anker USB spec

US Specs:

Input: 100-240V~ 2.1A 50-60Hz

Output: 5.0V==3.0A /9.0V==3.0A / 15.0V==3.0A / 20.0V==3.25A (65W Max) <<< near identical Output range but this also can do 15v

any reason to think I can't just take my MicroSD card out of my existing A45 and put it into a new A306 and have it read the files correctly? any risk of damaging the data on the card?
Could be a different format with Sony OS vs Android but shouldn't damage anything by just plugging in to see if it shows. All must still be in the Music folder

so i take it amazon japan no longer posts to the uk right?
No, have to go via buyee (or other proxy) and therefore extra charges from buyee (£5) postal cost and then if unlucky, VAT/Duty.

Will let you know how my A307 goes on.

Its been bought by buyee with my PayPal funds and once it get delivered to their Japanese office I choose delivery method/cost then on its way to me.

That sucks, didn't know about that but then it's been a while since I got anything from Amazon JP. So handy, especially since you just Pau all the import fees up front.

You could with the A107 & ZX507 but then I think Sony must have had a word and stopped them. You can still occasionally fall on another seller, but fulfilled by Amazon at RRP (I got my WM1AM2 that way) but now as rare as hens teeth.

I'm trying buyee (tenso) for the first time and seems easy once you've setup but will update on my experience when it arrives. I went for the Grey 64GB version with soft case and before p&p after exchange rate hit my PayPal at £405 and postage should be max £20. Its then wait to see if caught by customs but that's no different to buying eBay.

Can't buy the 64GB, grey one or case in UK so no comparison to a UK price but would expect maybe £429 with VAT with the 32GB caseless one in UK costing £349.

ebay sellers looking at ~£390-430 for the 64GB version without the case/VAT/Duties.
