I'll have an update, diagnosis, and internal shots up in a few days--Ragnarok is coming back via Mike Moffat's car, so it won't be here until Wednesday...he likes to stop at some cool places on the way back.
 
Ironically, Ragnarok behaved yesterday, didn't overheat, and sounded promising.
 
I expect the problem may simply be communication between the microprocessor/DAC and the gain board. We had to hand-solder the ribbon cables to the main board at the last minute due to an interference fit. This is what we get when we assemble complex products for the first time.
 
Sorry for the incomplete state of the product, it looks like we'll simply not be bringing prototypes to shows in the future to avoid any confusion.

I understand that conclusion Jason, but I for one really really enjoy seeing/hearing your early efforts - whatever the experience (good, bad or ugly) You've done a great job of labeling your prototypes, and you and crew are right there to help explain and sort it. Your willingness to openly and honestly share your thoughts and efforts has much to do with why myself and many others are loyal Schiit fans.
 
Do what you gotta do, but don't get too product 'PC'. Ragnarok was acting up when I had my turn, but I still really enjoyed my time with it. Gives me a feel for where you're headed - and I like it.

It would be nice to have a remote control maybe? I mean - one device but so many outputs to different transducers across the whole room/house...

Something to keep in mind regarding prototypes:
 
At The Village Meet, Jason brought a prototype Mjolnir. It sounded like ass. It was harsh and way too bassy. I recall making these comments to a friend as I saw Jason on the corner of my eye nodding to my comments. I ended up buying a Mjolnir. End of story.

Well hopefully the tube Rag version won't be too hot. My ZD is excellent in winter, it's like having a room heater lol but it's summer here soon in Sydney and I'd love to have a cooler amp

A cooler amp... Well until anti-mater is uesd to create amps, i think we out of luck .
Id love the ydgrasill to have a non balanced outpu as well so i could plug it into my asgard 1 (after all the HE-400 i have wont scale much fartehr than that).
 
That way if i save enought for the Ydgrasill i might buy a ragnarok in the future, but as it stands, its just the uber bifrost for me.

I wouldn't expect the tube version for quite some time. But I guess it's good that Jason has reconfirmed it's gonna happen.

yeah, I think with 500usd differences in price, which equal to the price of the LYR, I would go for a tube dac or just buy the LYR so I wont miss the tubby sound.

I need to check this system out, should go well with my LCD-3's and HD700 (maybe I'll upgrade to HD800, I dunno... HD700 seems more personal on my head and not much worse)
 
I really like the Norse mythology and I like what Schiit have done with the naming scheme, maybe it's my call
So my next plan is as follows - Get something like audio-gd NFB-28 (Or something as an AIO system) until I can save  up for a serious system, cause STX served me well up until I bought my serious headphones, now it's lacking in every respect
 
And yeah, Americans can't pronounce European words, Yggdrasil and Ragnarok It's really as easy as that. Maybe I need to make some audio clips but I don't have a webcam/mic right now to do that.
