Anyone who have listened to high end DAC, please post ygg views.

I will be giving the yggy/rag combo a thorough inspection this weekend. I assume Jason will have HD800s on hand as I'm not bringing mine. I already have a Rag ordered and assume I will be getting yggy with it as well.

I'll wait for detailed Yggdrasil+Ragnarok+HD 800 impressions. Please.

Thanks for keeping it real Maxvla. Encouraged to hear that the stack sounded good with the HD800 - IMO the best headphone I've heard despite its critics. I'm guessing the queue was pretty formidable - kudos for your patience.

Maxvla - I realize you time to evaluate the Yag was very limited but was you first blush opinion that the YAG was a top tier DAC (exceptional)?

Yag? There is certainly no such DAC. I suppose it could be a name for the combo... a pretty bad name at that albeit better than Raggy.

Gotta say that I'm much happier with the Marantz naming system. but that would be too prosaic for Schiit.

Ragnarok: the last battle prior to the end of time. Yggdrasil: the Norse " Tree of Life". So given their Norse Mythology naming stratagem, perfectly appropriate. It also aligns quite well with my Ancestry, so love it here!

So, I had to put Jason to the test. On the Rag stack I used my UERMs, but with a twist, using a 4pin XLR balanced cable. On low gain without music, it was still silent at maximum volume. Music was crisp and clean with this setup.

Test passed !

As this was my first time hearing both rag and yggy, I don't think I can answer your question. The above link will have to do.

I've never heard an R2R DAC, but I've heard it described how I heard the top Schiit.
