New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil

You are getting closer to the twilight zone. Give it another 75 hours.

Lol. Will the Yggdrasil turn me to stone, do to the greatness of the music after a 150 hour burn time? My Yggdrasil comes later today, I can not wait to start burning it in.

Yes its possible but ALWAYS put The Rok on top.
And I'd suggest increasing the space between the dac and amp, and even add more space between the dac and the tabletop.

And try not to put anything on top of The Rok, and especially don't block any of the vent holes.

The Rok does run in the 100+F on top.

100 F~~ 37Celcius.

Pretty cool (temperature) no?

  On the Schiit Yggdrasil Page:

"Status: Backordered. Orders placed now are expected to ship at the end of June 2015."

Lulz. I ordered early Saturday morning, so hopefully I got in before the cutoff. I sent them an email to check.

I see that people started receiving their DACS:

Now, on a more serious matter, can't wait for full warmed up impressions :D

Mine has a case temp of 120° or so after an hour or so of use. That's not a problem; but it's hot enough that I needed to measure it.

I'll be putting my Yggy under the Ragnarok, leaving a nice air gap, and watching the temps.

Yggy has approx 60hrs on it now and I believe it's beginning to settle down. Music and vocals are being presented in a more relaxed manner. Backgrounds are blacker and their seems to be more air in between the various notes if that makes any sense. When compared to the first hours of initial turn on, everything is less in your face and calmer. It's as if the Yggy is a capable yet inexperienced athlete beginning his first competition. At first, he's tense and everything he does is highly charged with too much energy. But now, given a little time, he's loosened up a little bit and has begun to allow his natural ability to come through and take over. The Yggy, like the athlete, is no longer overthinking things and has begun to find its stride. It's become more relaxed and it's gotten better at what it's supposed to do.

Anyone measure the temp at the top of the case of the Yggy?  I'm space limited so I would likely need to stack a tube amp on top of it.

Thanks.

Thanks for that!  I've got a KGST that takes up a fair amount of space and I think I'd have to lay it on top of the Yggy to make it work for me.

I think the headphone upgrade would be a more a more significant upgrade to the system than a dac upgrade, regardless of how stellar it is... IMO

While good troubleshooting technique involves working from the 'tailpipe' backward (i.e. headphones/speakers), I for one believe in working forward in my audio setup for upgradng the weak links.  Allows you to realize the full capabilities of your downstream components (amp/HP) before you think to replace them.

I'm still looking for that mystical CD transport.
