Hi All!

I have been doing some research on here the last few days as I want to purchase a new set of headphones and a dedicated headphone amp. I am not new to hi-end audio, but semi-new to headphone listening. So I just joined this site today to hopefully become wiser of the can!

Anyhow...

I have decided I want to try AKG's 702 and need an amp.  Did some research here and found a used (elsewhere) Head Direct EF-1 for about $160 in great condition (I want to go fairly cheap with my first amp purchase).

My question is, is this a decent deal in your opinion for this entry-level amp?

Thanks in advance to all your replies!

Welcome to Headfi and sorry about your wallet!

Thanks for the reply. I have pretty much decided on this particular amp for driving the 702's as I want a tube-based amp, was just looking to see if everyone thought that was a decent deal...or if I was paying too much!

I think you did good for a beginning selection. It won't be the best combo but a value for getting started.

Welcome to the money pit.
