Hello iFi audio,

I have 3 questions :

1) I have a spare USB type C input on my PC, would plugging the iSilencer into it via an adapter would help reduce the noise of the other ports or does it work only when plugged directly into a port, without an adapter ?

2) What is best ? Having several iSilencers or using an audiophile sotm pcie usb card ? Or both ?

3) If you already have an iUSB 3.0, is the iDefender useful ?

1. iSilencer works in unused ports as well.
2. The best, yet not always possible way is to try each solution separately, then both at the same time and leave what works the best for you. Our policy is to not comment on other manufacturers' products.
3. No, it is not, if we're talking about iUSB3.0 from micro range. It breaks ground loops.

I use idefender now without external power input( cut ground loop from PC) Connect to Musical Paradise USB battery power supply ( Pure 5V power bus with regulator ) .

Isilencer is now connected to output of Musical Paradise PS ( regenerate signal ) to Ifi ipurifier 2 injected into Singxer F1 ddc.

This is by far , my most optimum USB connection in power and signal.

My F1 is output to ifi spdif ipurifier into my dac digital coax.

I run Amarra for Tidal out of an older 2010 Macbook Pro USB2 port into a John Kenny Ciunas, which is battery operated and quite quiet. It does not need USB power to operate, and if I'm not mistaken, does not need it even for a 'handshake' (?). Kenny claims that any gunk coming from the power noise from the USB bus is mitigated by this design approach. And that there is also sophisticated reclocking happening on the DAC's side of things:

Given the above, does anyone think there would be sense in experimenting with any of these noise-killing products in terms of any even cleaner, jitter/noise free stream hitting the in point of the self-powered DAC? If so, what would people think would be the most appropriate for providing a clean(er) stream to the Ciunas. The iSilencer or the iDefender?

To try a product for yourself is always a good practice and the only reliable way to answer the main question: "do I need to spend my money on this or that product?"

Let your ears be the judge.

And both iSilencer and iDefender address different issues. The former reduces RF noise, whereas the latter deals with ground loops.

Hi guys, I'm hoping to prepare for an upcoming vacation soon, so that would be great if someone can give me some insigt:

* Since I already have the Wyrd, would you recommend getting either the iSilincer and/or iPurifier?
  - If so, which one, or would both be helpful combined with Wyrd?
  - Or would the iSilincer + iPurifier be better instead of the Wyrd?
* Since my laptop has USB3, I wouldn't need the iDefender, right? (just confirming)

Well, if I already have iUSB 3.0 and in the future will be getting iGalvanic 3.0 do I really need any of this accesories? I am completly lost when ito comes to benifits from this things, like what can I expect from every USB solution from iFi individually and in certain combos... it would be so much better if iFi could just do for us some chart summing everything up. There is to many solutions for used like me.

Note: I dont have ability to test this devices let alone freely experiment.

We always recommend to get what delivers the best outcome to your own pair of ears. In order to do so, it's for the best to try solutions you are interested in before buying anything. We've been quite vocal about what both iDefender and iPurifier do, what issues these products address. Yet we can't comment about their interaction with other manufacturers' products as that's our policy.

I have the idsd nano LE amp/DAC which is usb-battery driven. I use it with the IEMatch with my current IEM.
Knowing that the IEMatch already reduces some noisefloor besides the attenuation of volume, would the iSilencer be usuefull still to reduce it even further, especially since the DAC is USB driven?

So is the idefender 3.0 the same thing as feeding a split usb power, would there be any benefit if you already have this config?

I purchased a new Mac and it does not have optical out as a previous model did. With optical my Dac/Amp was dead silent, but not it is pops and clicks... Are any of these products helpful? Not sure I understand what they do. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
