New iPods don't work without iTunes?

Its true!
With the latest iPods you need iTunes to add files to the iPod database. No 3rd. party application will work.

Keep the nappies on kiddies... there will be a work around soon enough - and by then you will probably see a price drop for the iPod range too...

For a Mac OS X or MS Windows user the obvious solution is iTunes.
But users of other OS (GNU/Linux, *BSD, etc.) are screwed.

I feel with you, but I am pretty certain that there will eventually be a way around this.
Perhaps someone should send an iPod classic to Jon Lech Johansen?
