From there, a fully screened portable gaming device or cellphone could also be interesting, considering what the DS can do. If a touchscreen were freely able to change its tactile points and parameters, the possibilities would be practically endless. Combine that with WiFi and a hard drive for just about anything and I would salivate over the potential.

in fact that device is already out and i'm using one - a pda phone, well maybe except for the hard disk. i have the HTC Prophet (google it) and it is now my primary portable media center (music, movies, games, calls, text messages, surf net). but wait, since apple has not come up with one yet, there's 'no such device yet'. so every good boy and girl should wait for apple to come up with one.

Now if it was gapless playback...

No reason why lefites wouldn't be able to use it, just do a Karma-style screen flip...

And have to suffer through a worldwide chorus of "what do I need two headphone jacks for?" No thanks.

Man, I've got an answer for everything.
Replace the words with symbols that look the same inverted. Instead of "Menu", have a rounded box with lines, etc. The only difference would be the top and bottom would be flipped. Make the Forward and Back (> and <) buttons flip when the screen inverts, and BAM! Usability!

Its sad that apple is trying to compete with the all-in-ones here (sony PSP). The ipod is a 'portable music device'...who wants to watch movies on a 3.5 inch screen? I had the psp and sold it becuase it had no games, apps I liked. I hope apple retains the original ipod interface or at least keeps a few from their current models in production.

I also think its rediculous idea for a touch screen:

...ooo, lets superimpose the control over the screen, leave some fingerprints and scratches, then squint at a movie.

megawzrd, in contrast I am v.happy with my PSP, but don't really use it's film capabilities, due to the limited (expensive) capacity of MS. As on the other thread, if Sony got rid of the gaming components and other excess and stuck a HD behind that screen = £££

Non-starter I'm afraid. It'd harm MS sales...

I would just slap some invisible shield over it and bam, done. I think it looks freakin sweet and can't wait for it.
