Pretty often on switching track or changing position. Also Poweramp 3 volume 10-15% less than Neutron and foobar2000.

I also don't think the other programs allow you to use the actual DAC of the phone.

I am not sure about Poweramp 3 too. It's Snapdragon 820 output not dedicated DAC. Though can't be sure what "DAC" HTC implemented. May be they just use 820 better than others and use own amp with noise filter on the end.

I asked on their forum for a clear answer, hopefully we will see.

Hi guys I'd just like to share with you my initial thoughts with HTC 10 vs LG V10

LG V10 vs HTC 10
- neutral
- a bit clearer
- wider soundstage
- can drive wider range of iems/hps a bit easier

HTC 10 vs LG V10
- warm sounding
- has a bit narrow soundstage
- has more body
- can drive iems to easy to drive HPs

I also noticed that when using boomsound  with audio profile it does amplify the bass and mid section so I just turn it off. What are thoughts guys?

Well I always preferred warm sounding dap but recently I'm starting to lean to neutral dap :p HTC did a great job with this one though. I'm just waiting for the dac/amp it uses it still a mystery for most of us.

I do not think the HTC is warm, I think it can be. I like using Boomsound, I specifically used the sound adjustment and have found the sound, unless it is an already overly bassy track, to be really good. The only A/B I can do is with the AK120ii and I feel the HTC does an excellent job.

It's a tad warmer over LG V10 which is neutral.

I still don't understand the audio profile on HTC 10 I tried using it on my Fidelio X1 and I played one dance by Drake (I know not a good one to test track) when I'm done setting it up and played the song around 90% of the full volume the bass and lower midrange gets amplified; it's overbearing. When I turn it off it stays true to the track on how it really sounds, I'm thinking that audio profile can only be used around 50 - 80% of full volume so that your hearing wouldn't get damage. Can someone please help me with this one, please? :D
