Hmmm not sure what to do.

I have the rev3 and don't really have an issue with the sound, although it is pretty sibilant at times. Having said that I think I may prefer the sound of rev2, or rev3.5.

If it was a case of just going to a shop and exchanging I would, but it will take ages!

Thought about exchanging your rev3's for the new ones? Couldn't hurt.

I got my He-400 rev 3, one week ago and I like them, but as everyone else the highs might be to much on some songs, but I've since done some tweaking with my DAC and EQ and I feel that they sound super. Which songs would you recommend for testing for this audible high peak?

If you're into metallica, try the ".. And justice for all" album. It's got alot of highs, due to a deliberate down-played focus on bass on that album. I haven't tried the HE-400 yet, but it's the first thing i'll listen to.

Yeah but it will be a right mission to get them sent back!

I have just checked and it seems it will cost £70 (~$110) to send them and loads of forms etc, and then get them picked up?

From the announcement, it seemed like they'd pay for it. "and want to replace them at our expense as soon as possible."

Have been listening to these for few weeks now, really happy with them as my first real "hifi" cans (rev 2, velours)... I have currently E17 and thinking of getting some dedicated amp... I hear lyr is great but that's kinda out of my budget atm...
Have been thinking about Little Dots maybe MK 2?, fiio e09k and o2, never tried tube amps but might work well

any suggestion what would get me more amping power and get me some more kick?
