New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation

I got myself a pair of T5p.2s earlier this week, really love their sound (I'm coming from Sennheiser IE60s, so it's a major upgrade).

Currently trying to find a good amp/dac combo both for when I'm at home and on the go, the sound is amazing, although a tad extra bass wouldn't hurt.
I've read good things about both the Dragonfly Red and the Oppo HA-2 (Mojo is out of the question for me due to it's price).
Anyone got some good recommendations?

What kind of music do they work well with? Can you give comparison of how that mentioned music compares to other ones?

I ask so I can better narrow between the upper beyer models for future reference. Thanks

I've only used them for a few days, and my musical taste is fairly limited, I primarily listen to Drum and Bass, a bit of Jungle, and a bit of Breakbeat. So I can't tell you which music they work with myself, as I haven't taken the time to listen to a diverse range of genres.

As I've only used IEMs in the past, the only thing I can really compare them to are my IE60s. And compared to my IE60s, it's a whole different world. Everything sounds much clearer, I can hear a whole new spectrum of sounds in my music. The only minor downside (for me) is that there could be a tad more bass. That said, the IE60s were on the bass heavy side of the spectrum, and my ears still need time to adjust to the sound of the T5ps.

Having said all that, I'd like to reaffirm that I've only been able to use them for a few days.

LMAO thats all I keep hearing with t90 and t5p that it could use tad more bass, and i find that with even the mid fi beyers. I like the bass, but could always use more.

I used to use IEMs but that was like 10 years ago. I can't even remember what that was like after i went over ears, i never looked back.

Didn't know what breakbeat is, so i youtubed it, and well the mixes have some nice exotic dancing and i can't quite put my finger on it, but its weird. Not in a bad way though. :D Sounds like a less pop like eurodance beats, slightly darker yet partyish. I'm still not fully into drum/bass, jungle as much as psy trance, and 80s techno, 90s dance. Anyway they're all weird/ :P Probably in similar pool give or take

Decided to go with the Dragonfly Red, the shop I got it from has a 2 week return policy, so a nice chance to try it out.

I've only used it for a few minutes now, but I've definitely noticed a sharper, clearer sound coming from my laptop. I'm impressed by how much the sound could be improved by such a small device.

@Sabientje65
How do you like the combination so far? I'm also running the T5P 2nd from the Dragonfly Red. Sometimes I use Equalizer APO to increase the bass a little (+6db from 0 to 80hz).

@all
I'm still wondering what it would sound like with a tube amplifier. Has anyone tried that?
Maybe even someone who tried it with the Aune T1? (Would be nearly in the same price range as Dragonfly)

Tube amp probably wouldn't be ideal as a couple of us have identified revealing/analytical equipment as better matches than warm ones for the T5p.2.

The sound has definitely improved, same applies as I said in my previous post. Everything sounds much clearer and sharper. I am using an LG G4 though, which has according to I've read, a notoriously bad DAC. So it's not too hard to improve the sound of that.

Didn't notice too big of a change in the bass department, but that is pro because the engine sound of the buss drowns most, if not all away. I'll have a more extensive session listening session in a more quite place during the weekend.

Any idea what's the most analytical dac/amp for USD 200 that'll be good for the T5p.2? Not necessarily portable. Something like the Modi+Magni combo perhaps? O2+ODAC? The goal is to have the best sound for the T5p.2 without paying more than 20-30% of the original cost of the headphone (because at 150-200% I'd rather get even better headphones).

The FiiO E18 is a great low budget option, but these cans deserve better.

If you don't need portable and could stretch the budget to an Emotiva DC-1 you've got a fantastic DAC and a decent enough headphone amp, with lots of potential for future upgrades.

No idea about the headphone, but the Modi is incredibly good for the price. wasn't impressed when I heard the JDS Element, regardless of price, which I believe is supposed to be above the ODAC. Felt like it didn't have much dynamic swing, and still didn't separate that well.

I was running a tube amp and switched to the Sony PHA-3 which is very analytical. Much better pairing to my tastes.

The analytical theory with the T5p.2 continues to gain strength.  The T5p.2 sound good with all sources but the analytical equipment seems to take them to the next level.
