Anyoune compared the t5p against the oppo-pm3?    Maybe an dumb question, but is the t5p an "fun" headphone? for example the hd800 have large soundstage and impressive details, but to harsh and flat. The philips fidelio x2 doent have that soundstage or details, but have warm/lush sound, with good bass and dynamics.A real treat for the ears :D

I find this a tough question, not a 'dumb" one.  I often find neutral/balanced headphones boring.  The T5P seems fairly neutral/balanced.  Nothing seems to be recessed.  However, I find there is enough sparkle in the treble and enough bass impact to be very enjoyable for me. So I wouldn't call it a "fun" headphone but I also wouldn't call these ideal studio monitors either.

Sorry, I have not heard the Oppo-PM3.

To me the PM3 is a bit boring, a bit too mid-centric, missing sparkle and just a bit too laid back and closed in. Not my cup of tea. And quite far from the T5p2.
It does fold flat thoug and is much more compact ( use and folded for transport). The thickness of the PM3 case is roughly 1/3 of the T5p case... Haptic represents the difference in price: the Beyer feels much better to me.

That reflects my impressions of the T5p2 quite well.

Tnx for your impression. I think i will wait a little more before maybe buying it :) I love the Philips fidelio x2.A really fun headphone. But its open and therefore not portable.I guess the t5p are totall different from the x2s?

T5p.2 now has some serious competition, the new ART series ATH-A2000Z

A2kZ can't match T5p 2nd gen soundstage expansion or treble airiness, but A2kZ bass is more extended, noticeably a little more quantity (especially sub-bass), and more articulate and tighter in comparison, and upper mids/treble overall are as detailed and revealing but AT sounds more natural and a little smoother in comparison to Beyer.  Another T5p.2 advantage is removable cables, while A2kZ is permanently attached.  Also, A2kZ has a better isolation and no sound leakage, in addition to $650 vs $1.1k price tag.  Another thing, T5p.2 is more efficient and not as picky about the source, while A2kZ scales up when amped (prefer it with my Micro iDSD).

No clear winner, each one has its pros and cons, but they are definitely in a similar sound category.

Have you tried T5p v1 and ATH-A2000X (A2000Z's predecessor)?

Unfortunately I've not heard the X2 so far, so I can't comment on that... A friend of mine got one, so maybe I'll have a listen next week when I'm back home.

I have tested the original T5p but it was a long time ago and I reflected some of it in my T5p v2 review, but only going by memory and definitely prefer v2 bass and smoother top end. Sorry, never tried the original A2kX...  Still puzzled why they didn't implement replacement cables in A2kZ, bad move :(

Saw a review of the dt1770 pro,and it was perfect for edm, rock, rap, and so on.Maybe the the dt1770 pro is a better option for my music taste.A warmer sound and deeper/more bass than the t5p?   I`ve also read a little about the shure srh 1540 (looks like an good allrounder, but bad isolation) :)

I'm not certain how "portable" you need the headphones to be. Are you just concerned with sound leakage or is size also a consideration?

I'll start by saying that you should steer clear of the PM-3. I found them uncomfortable. The size of the pads is bordering on making them on-ear rather than around the ear headphones. Moving on to the sound, they are sorely lacking in bass probably due to the size of the small driver combined with the planar magnetic design. I find this disappointing because I like just about everything else Oppo makes.

For the style of music you've described, you may want to look at the MrSpeakers Alpha Prime. It offers excellent isolation, a comfortable well padded design, and excellent bass response that would be ideal for EDM. The headphones are also quite good looking IMO, especially in the claret color. The downside is that they are not small, do not fold, and definitely require an amp. They are however well priced now that the Ethers are the new flagship.

Well, they have to be portable in that way that i can use them with an oppo-ha2.And also that they isolate well,so i can use them in an car where the driver plays music on the cars stereo, and i on my headphones. The audio technica ath msr 7 was a total disaster it that way.The size and weight isnt that important,as long as they are comfortable. :)

Ps: I also likes rock,pop,classical,indie,metal,folk,...... So i think a headphone that works great on all genres would be something for my taste. :D

I've never heard the Alpha Primes but I did own the Alpha Dogs. The Alpha Dogs are detailed, neutral and balanced.  The bass goes deep but they don't emphasis bass.  I found the Alpha Dogs plain, in comparison with the T5P V2.  The T5P V2 have more bass impact, more detail, better sound stage, more sparkle in the treble and better imaging.  (Superior in almost all areas except for mids)  The Alpha Dogs are half the price of the T5P V2 so this shouldn't be a surprise.  The Alpha Prime might be a more fair fight, but I suspect the sound signature is still very neutral, but just more refined than the Alpha Dogs.  As was previously stated:  The Alpha Dogs required a lot of power.  (Note: I listen to various kinds of rock, not EDM)
