@moriez We also sell Fostex TH900. I say how I feel. You don't have to listen to me. Trust your own ears...
I feel you bro. When i tried first T5p i really liked and absolutely loved first T1, but i have feared if it ever broke they would give me New T1, because Old T1 would be out of production... I personally don't like their new tuning, talking about high mids to low treble transition. With old T1 i felt mids was good from top to bottom, but now lower mids is forward and suddenly boom!!! Upper mids sound subpar in comparison. Also i missed a lot of air and energy and speed. Ofcourse majority of Audiophiles like Smooth sounding headphones, so Beyerdynamic tuned it for majority. So now more people can like it. I don't heard new T5, but i think my coment would be the same as yours given the change of sound.Guys I am seriously considering returning the T5P2s and going back to the T5p1s.
Some reasons:
1. They are so warm that they fill the music with very annoying bright elements. You can listen to these annoying elements even in relatively easy songs to resolve.
2. The bass tends to distortion. Try for example Hotline bling.
3. The vocals are more veiled that in the previous model. The previous model was unbeatable for female vocals. They sounded just silky smooth.
4. There are not so many details in the highs. There are more annoying bright elements, but not the kind of the detail that was present in the T5p1s. While I can definitely hear more of the rest of the music in the new generation, the others were so smoothly perfect to listen.
It is a pity because I do like the new cable and the more presence of bass, but I don't think I can live with this sound signature in a €900 headphones. They sound like those treble heavy Ultrasones that I tried the other day.
Is anyone experiencing something similar? The more I listen the to T52ps the more disappointed I get. I actually wish someone/something could talk me out of it otherwise I'll go return them tomorrow.
Regards,

I also don't understand This. In my experience T1 2nd sounded ALWAYS WARM and a bit bright at the same time. First T1 had contrast. It was in one song bright in other warm in other neutral. I liked different character for different genre, but in my opinion new tuning take that away...There are some things I don't get in your description (like 'so warm (...) bright elements' or bass distortion or the comparison to Ultrasones), but everyones taste is different. Why not just keep the old model and send the new one back or resell them? I don't think convincing someone is the right way to go...
Unfortunatrly I can't comment on the sound yet as mine haven't been delivered. Sorry. What gear are you using to drive your t5p jpimentelc

I can't use those terms accurately Plakat. I guess my view is that the sound of the new T5p2s doesn't sound to me like a balanced sound. My listening experience so far is that in comparison to the first model, the treble is harsh, voices sound a bit more veiled and less detailed, reverb seems off the charts and the bass is imprecise and harsh sounding. I wonder if anyone who has compared the two of them can share his/her views on this. I wonder what DoctaCosmos' view is, for example.
I am using no amps since I bought these as my travel headphones. Therefore I have been switching them between an iPad Pro, and iPhone 6 and my Macbook Pro 15 inch. That was the gear I used with my previous T5p1 and I was reaching incredible levels of smooth musical bliss.

Thats about my view on the T1 as well, I still prefer the old model. Most interestingly though the T1.2 was the fist model that seemed to improve with a balanced connection.
No problem (there's a glossary of describing sound somewhere around here btw.). I think I did not misunderstand what you were trying to say overall, but it does not match my own experience. I did own the original model as well, but sold it several weeks before I got the new one. Therefore I can't compare them in detail... sonic memory is very unreliable. The overall character is still present though.
While I do think the old T5p was exceptionally well suited to female voices (I sold it to a lover of such pieces and have to say that testing it with his music was a very nice thing to do), I'd certainly not call it smoother than the new version. But still: I don't want to convince you to like the new model... as you can read above I, for one, still like the old T1 better than the new version (of the T1 that is), contrary to most other people who like the new model better. So there's nothing wrong with having preferences and deciding against a headphone.
