Sure thing. Thanks.

Speaking for myself, I'm actually both, because overall I prefer T1.2 but at the same time midrange from T1.1 were slightly more involved for me. It is the only area where I have any doubts about which pair is "better". I've had various headphones over the past 8+ years and mostly preferred closer and more intimate midrange. That is why I often use for example K240 DF. Music genres that I like are:
– Abstract
– Acoustic
– Ambient
– Ambientronica
– Black Metal
– Classical
– Dark Ambient
– Downtempo
– Drone
– Dubstep
– Electronic
– Electropop
– Experimental
– Goa Trance
– Hard Rock
– Heavy Metal
– IDM
– Industrial
– Progressive Rock
– Psychedelic Trance
– Score
– Traditional Electronic
and for the most part doesn't nessesairly require midrange to be exposed. It is just a matter of personal preference.
Little and short comparison between both versions:
Bass: more amount in 2nd. 1st were unfortunately too bass shy even for my ears.
Midrange: different presentation. 2nd more diffused and distant but softer and richier, HD800 style. 1st closer, more neutral and intimate, STAX style.
Highs: similar on both, but on 2nd slightly more refined and softened.
Soundstage: similar but with greater sense of depth with 2nd.
For games both will perform very well, except some high frequencies which can be piercing in many titles. I couldn't play much games with Q701 back in the days and prefered K550 instead.
I would say T1.2 is sharing more things with DT990/600 than T1.1. I've had this headphone for more than half a year. You can expect overall quality of the sound to be increased, slightly weaker bass, cleaner mids, cleaner highs with better detail retrieval and MUCH better soundstage with great holography and pinpoint accuracy. DT990/600 are very good premium class headphones, no doubt about it, but to my ears both variants of T1 were superior.
Sure thing. Thanks.
