Also, can I ask: Does Stereo allow u to test a wide range of headphones e.g. Almost every high end headphone they have? Do they have the ATH-M40X, the ATH-M50X and the Sennheiser PX 360 open for testing? Also, do they sell airplane adaptors and 6.35mm to 3.5mm adaptors (not 3.5mm to 6.35mm, cos I got a yamaha HPE 170 which has only a 6.35mm plug) ?

yes to all your questions - you might want to drop by Stereo itself, because you'll be happy that you did. staff is very accommodating and friendly.

(you might also want to just edit your previous posts to add more of what you have in mind)

Great to know that they have the appropriate 6.35mm to 3.5mm adaptor I need, and I can also get an airplane adaptor at the same time!

Btw, has anybody listened tp both the ATH-M50X and the ATH-M40X before? Which of the 2 has a flatter, more neutral frequency response? I heard from reviews that the M50 has emphasised bass and highs resulting in recessed mids while the M40 has a flatter more neutral sound.

If u want a flat response then from what I've heard I don't think either of these cans are suitable

I recommend HD280 instead.

HD380 is even better, but you might have to go through a handful of HD380s before getting one with a more balanced response.

If you will consider open headphones, get a used K601. You could try the newer version, K612, but I'm not sure that it is as flat as it has a bit more bass than 601.

Need a closed set for outside use. I am okay with bringing out closed monitors. What do u mean a handful of HD 380s?

My bl. M50x arrived yesterday. I really like them. I listened to them on my laptop for about 4 hours straight with a wide range of rock and country. The Byrds; Bob Dillon; Skynerd; ZZ Top; The Black Crows; 38 Special; Deep Purple; Scorpions; Rush; Pink Floyd; Johnny Cash; Willie Nelson; The Highwaymen; just to name a few. I EQ'd them just al little bit in Media Player, not very much at all. With the volume in Med.Player about 80% down and the laptop volume about 75% down they are very loud. Much more and you would have damage. To me they are very clean+clear sounding. They can get a little harsh but I took a lot of that out with EQ. When called for the bass reaches way down there to the point of feeling it a little. I bumped up the low mids a hair and they come right out at you. The highs are clear and bright. They are very comfortable. My glasses hardly get in the way. If I press a little on the cups the sound doesnt change, so I must be getting a good seal. They barely fit my ears, but go completly around. Of course all this is my opinion and feel, but overall I am very impressed. My biggest complaint so far is the bag could be bigger. Sorry for my non-technical review, but I think I got my opinion across.
Thanks for listening.

Great to hear that! But many people have said that the normal M50X has a sonic difference from the blue one, with the blue one being brighter.
